People wearing skirts!

I've noticed for a long time now that seeing anyone, either gender, wearing a skirt is becoming a rare event. Just finding women wearing skirts is getting harder and harder to do. So far in the last two, while going to he library, Wally-Mart, the grocery store, etc. I've only seen 6 women in skirts, no men (except me when I wear one).
That's less then one woman a day that I've seen wearing a skirt.
That's makes it even more noticable each time I go out in a skirt!
When I first go on the internet, 10 years ago, there was still a lot of women going our in skirts and dresses. My wearing a skirt (at 6'4" and 250 lbs,) is always something noticable but at least there were other people, if only women, wearing skirts.
Now I'm hearing more and more women say that they don't EVER wear skirts. In some cases women in their 20s who say that they have never worn a skirt or dress and have no intention of ever wearing one.
Just keeping the idea of skirts alive as a garment seems to in danger of becoming a lost cause.
To bad the panthose/stocking industry does realise that they need to revive skirt wearing as a way to sell more pantyhose/stockings. To bad they can't or won't push to a male audience.

What hope their is, is that historically the human genders have always had distinctions between them. Things that tell women apart from men. So maybe, if pants would become the only thing women wear then is would becom okay for men to wear skirts!

As far as women in skirts goes, I think it depends upon where you live and where you go.

I live in the NYC area, and while women in skirts are in the minority, I still see quite a few. I rarely get on a subway car or a commuter train that doesn't have at least one or two women in skirts, especially during rush hour. Not surprisingly, you'll see more in the summer than in the winter -- on a hot summer day, when waiting for my commuter train, I'd say 20-25% of the women will be wearing skirts or dresses. I suspect that you'd see more in metropolitan areas because the greater anonymity makes people want to dress to be noticed more, and skirts do get noticed.

It also depends upon the setting. Nowadays, skirts are seen more as something to dress up in, so if you go to clubs, dances, formal occasions, etc., you're more likely to see women in skirts.

And if you go to Contra Dance events (see my post about NEFFA), the overwhelming majority of women and a substantial minority of the men will be in skirts!

Moral of my post: stop wasting your life hanging out at Wally World, and start Contra Dancing!

I wore a kilt to an outdoor exhibition and I saw only 1 woman wearing a skirt towards the end of my visit.

A Bumper Crop!
Out shopping on Sunday morning and suddenly I'm seeing dozens of women wearing skirts and dresses everywhere I looked. Then I realized that "of course" this was late Sunday morning and church had just let out. Most of these women had dressed up in order to go to church. But that doesn't really count toward everyday wear, does it?
Of course anytime is better then no time.
But I also noticed an odd thing as I glanced at people walking around. Along with dozens of adult women wearing skirts there were dozens of daughters with them equally dressed up. But several ( half dozen or more) pre-teen girls, 10,11, or 12 were all wearing high heeled shoes (okay an interest of mine that most people, including my own wife, hadn't noticed). These weren't the old fashion "play" high heels that I've seen girls wear in the past. These were real heels, some two to three inches high. And the girls walked around without any problem as if they wore them all the time!
Gee-whiskers!
Growing up I remember girls didn't get to wear heels until they were in eighth grade or even high school. I noticed more and more females wearing heels lately. And they are higher heels then in the 1950s 0r 1960s. In fact some of what I've seen in public lately are almost too high. Is this a new trend.

You see it now on TV shows, almost every female lead runs around (sometimes literally) in heels when just a few years ago it was gym shoes and work boats.

Oh, well, at least there is one day a week when we get to see women in skirts and dresses and looking like what I remember women looking like!
Thank God for Sundays!

How frequently does your wife wear skirts?
Thanks,

Sapphire:
Sadly my wife almost never wears skirts.
She works in the medical field and wears "scrubs" to work every day and then puts on her "manure" kicking jeans once she gets home.
Even her dress up clothes are pants suits from when she worked in an office.
Sadly this leaves me...saddened.
I make it a policy to never say anything to her, because she's know my views since we first dated 24 years ago.
But what can be done without imposing things on other people. That's certainly not what I want. I just want my personal freedom too.
I just feel sad that it has to be such an emotional battle for myself and other MIS-MIK to get out and do that one thing we want.

Does your wife object to your wearing of skirts and heels?

I certainly do not object to Carl's skirt wearing. It has made him happier and more interested in his attire. I've even stood up for him on the very few occassions that he's been questioned.
