I have to say that I was rather encouraged by the responses.

Good article!

I can tell that our own crfriend has added his 2 cents worth by the style of writing.

As I read the comments, I'ld guess that 75-80% were favorable towards men in skirts.
Now - Why won't this make any headline news story? Not politically correct?

The rep from Neiman's, to me, took a 'chickened-out' attitude. But, at Neiman's prices,
I would not buy from them anyway. I don't drive a Cadilliac(for Neiman's customers),
but a 12 year old Chevy suburban(more like JCPenny's or Wal-Mart customers).
[Good-Grief, 12yrs old. Doesn't look out of style one bit.]

Good article!
Indeed! Perhaps the notion of blokes in anything-but-tr*users is gaining some measure of traction. It's about time. Too, the comments section seems quite favourable -- even given the commentary about the current economic clime (which is enough to put a chill on even the hottest of coals)!

Dang. Bagged. Guilty as charged. But, what should I have signed it as? "John Paul"? "Ru Paul"? "Rufus"? (I'm not making that one up; if my god-daughter had been born a boy, that would have likely been his name.) "Cordwainer Bird"?

The signature was not the 'give-away'

Who else but our own crfriend can write with such
aplomb(sp) and as verbose choices of words?

OK-I'm out of Carl's league :D
Your 'style of writing' is also your trade-mark.
Distinctive with your ellegant choice of words,
yet you get to the point. Even when telling
someone they messed up(on this forum), you
do so with such style :!:

Augh! Where's Michael Jackson -- no, not that one, I'm talking the Beer Hunter -- when you need him? I can almost hear the commentary: "A bit of a weedy nose, more than a dollop of arrogance, and a finish like drain-opener." Yes, that might sum my "style" up. And also why I spend a goodly part of my existence at work in trouble.
OK-has my 'brownie point' level increased :?:
Only if you like Brownies. Some say they do a heck of a job. I like 'em of age, however. {duck-and-run}

Just so this thread doesn't run completely off the rails, I'd like to thank Joe for pointing that article in the WSJ out. It made for a good read!

There was a comment saying that Aikido swordsmen wear skirt. Actually what I used to wear a couple of years ago practicing Akido was not a skirt. It's more like skirted trousers with a lot of material pleated. Very full bodied, but still trousers.

Oh yes and one more thing. This "hakama" you wear over an ordinary Akido "kimono" trousers. I can guaranty this combination is not comfortable or practical to wear. :?
