Hi

I am a 68 yo male from west central Fl. I too hate being tied to a trowsers only wardrobe. I do wear and love my Kilts. What would be nice, tho - would be to have the freedom to wear a skirt in a manly fashion. The skirts I do have, I've only worn around the house. Someone mentioned that wearing a skirt while driving is great - I Totally agree. No binding and the air flow is great.

Whilst the notion can tick off the most militant of kilt-wearers, all a kilt is is a highly specialised skirt; here at SkirtCafe, we absolutely appreciate and respect kilts for what they are, however, we maintain open minds (or at least try to) about other forms of non-trouser garments for guys.

Here's hoping you'll enjoy the community; we're a rather diverse lot when it comes to interests, but have a commonality in that most of us really want something other than trousers to cover our lower halves.

Now I can welcome you to the café in open forum, it's good to have you here.

I started as a "kilts only" sort of guy (after a very slow false start with a sarong on holiday some years earlier) but over time came to realise that most folks don't care what I wear and those who have any interest are generally enthusiastic to see that someone is prepared to break the shackles of conformity.

I now mix skirts and kilts with my other choices based on how I feel and the circumstances and not on some imaginary fear of how others will react to me. Life can be an adventure, it seems a shame that so few are prepared to try something so simple and yet so effective for improving their comfort.

I have designed and worn what I call my business Kilt suit which consists of black loafer shoes, white kilt scocks, a black kilt, a white dress shirt with french cuffs, a black blazer jacket, a black and red power tie with matching handkerchief. Actually bought 2 ties and had the second one made into flashes - so my tie, handkerchief and flashes all match. I wore this to a business meeting 2 weeks ago and was well received. I expected a few derogatory comments but there were none. Two said they wished they had the ba**s to wear a kilt.

If I can find a black kilt in my budget range that does not look too cheap to go with a blazer I might just try something similar. I must say that I like the idea of using a duplicate tie to make flashes but think I'd probably go for black kilt hose as I'm just not good at keeping white socks anything like white; after three minutes they would be "white and mud" and a week later they'd be that colour often thought to be unique to men's underpants, "thousand wash grey"

Yes black would work, just choose a power tie that would work with black. My Kiltsuit is a great outfit. Very masculine and I feel quite confident wearing it.

post a pic of it? What we 'read' here may not be as
accurate because 'A Picture is worth a Thousand words'.
