I have just joined this forum. I'm a guy who loves to wear skirts and dresses. Almost 4 months ago I went out in public for the first time wearing a skirt. I really enjoyed it, the skirt was more comfortable than anything that I have ever worn, even a lot more comfortable than shorts. I bought several more skirts and have worn them regularly, I love them. Later on I went out in public wearing a dress. That was a very wonderful experience, I fell in love with dresses immediately. Dresses are pretty and very comfortable, I love doing something different. I'm going to buy some more dresses and wear them often. I have got many strange looks the few times that I have been out in a dress and I have heard people laughing behind my back, but I don't pay that any attention. I'm not even close to being gay and I'm not trying to look like a woman. I wear skirts and dresses because they are so comfortable and because it is something different.

If you'd like to share a little more information with us, rough area for instance and some idea of age that would be good. Hey Terry, I"m nowhere near you, nor your age (oh well)

But I"m happy to see that you've found out what most men only dream of or are missing entirely. I'm not into dresses myself, just skirts right now. Could that change, maybe??

You'll get the stares and laughing behind your back, but those are just the people that so to speak, can't think past their own selves. This is a great place to get support and tips/help and other things on wearing skirts, dresses, and kilts. I've only been wearing skirts for a short time, yet they feel so natural to me now. When I first put one on it was like, wow, there's nothing between my legs (cloth) and it feels so strange and that when I walk I can only put one leg out so far before the skirt stops me. Along with that, when wearing a skirt you also have to adopt new rules of movement so that you don't show everyone what you have between the legs and up the skirt/dress. Like most if not all the people here, I have absolutely no desire to be or look like a woman in any way.

If you ever get asked why you wear a skirt or dress just tell whoever asks you that it's for comfort (women say that all the time) and I would say after many discussions on this board and some others that the historical perspective isn't quite as powerful as we might think. It's a good argumentative subject for a dinner somewhere, but does very little in my experience for everyday living. As some women tell me to say, just tell people that it's comfortable and I have the right to wear what I want, and it's not hurting anyone. As long as what they're wearing something doesn't hurt me or someone else, It's no skin off my back.

Terry, I also am not into dresses. That's not to say I only wear skirts, I also wear tunics and/or Jumpers. The tunic is sewn for the shape of a man, the jumper is really more like wearing suspenders with a skirt. I always wear a shirt under the jumper. Every dress I've seen isn't really well shaped for the male torso, we don't have a high waist or boobs which dresses are mostly cut and sewn for.

It is also interesting that you have gone so fast to wearing dresses as well, ( and why not?) ( I think many men (definatel NOT all) are so affixed to their own unconcious limitations, based on the years of "manly dressing" indoctrination, that they have difficulty seeing beyond anything else than a simple skirt.)
I too wear dresses occasionally, finances being the biggest thing holding me back to getting enough to have a reasonable choice, to be able to buy the dress of choice, ( often the ones which are not in the lower price bracket) so as not to wear the same dress too often).

This is of course a MEN in skirts forum, but I think that eventually there may be an apart place for talk about dresses, as they too can be if you look hard enough, not too femme, and be worn with pleasure by men, as they are skirted clothing. And there seem to be many men who are starting to experiment with dresses now, and finding out how wonderful they can be to wear, at least if they find dresses which are not too acentuated on the bare back and breast side of things.

Hi Terry and welcome! I too am in Alabama and spend a good bit of time wearing skirts as well as the occasional dress . Where is Alabama are you?
