First of all,

short pants 1
Second thing is,
Don't Go There!
You're not into cross-dressing, as to be made to look feminine,
you just want to wear skirts--Correct? This sounds like your
girl friend has completely misunderstood you, and is trying to
embarrass you into not wearing skirts/kilts.
Your statement
' on her terms ', sounds more like she is trying to
control you, not letting you be yourself. If she feels
embarrassed
that's
her problem,
not yours!
Does she wear trousers, pant suits, or jeans? If so, ask her how
long she has been 'cross-dressing'! This may make her stop and
think about what she is doing to you.
If she responds that
she has wearing 'jeans' all of her life, and that it perfectly normal,
you should remind her that thanks to some brave women, back
in 1941-1945, paved the way for her to wear 'jeans' as a common
piece of women's clothing.
You, on the other hand, are just trying to reclaim a garment that
has been a man's garment for hundreds of years.
A Kilt is a type of 'skirted' garment,
normally worn by men.
A Skirt is a type of 'skirted' garment
normally worn by women.
I repeat the word
'Normally'.
The definition of 'skirt' from the Merrium-Webster's 'online' dictionary is

This is one of the best parts -
usually worn by women and
girls covering some or all of the body from the waist down
The words 'usually worn by women and girls'
does not say limited to
women and girls. Men have worn 'skirted' garments through out
history.
Definition of Kilt--same dictionary--
Main Entry: 2kilt
Function:
noun
Date: circa 1730
1 :
a knee-length pleated skirt usually of tartan worn by men
in Scotland and by Scottish regiments in the British armies
2 : a garment that resembles a Scottish kilt
About the only difference between the two words and definition is
'pleats/pleated'. Men wore 'pleated' skirts, women wore 'non-pleated'
skirts.
The bottom line is Both Men and Women Wore Skirts!
If your girl friend doesn't accept this information and still wants
to 'control you' under 'her terms'. then she is not worthy of you!
OK-

is put away.
