I stumbled on this little article which provides answers to any religious zealot who may still say that a skirt is women's clothing.

Personally I do not have a problem with this, as I always wear a kilt to church here in Scotland, where it is well accepted.

I also wear my kilt to church (Roman Catholic) in fact the only time I don't wear it is in the rain because I walk to church, but I would draw the line at a skirt that would be a no, no for me, but you have to ask yourself "when's a kilt not a kilt" is a denim kilt a pleated skirt, so far I have worn my camouflage kilt to church without any comment, but in the spring/summer I will give my denim kilt a try at church just to see/hear any reactions.

I sometimes wear my Denim UnionKilt to Church and it is well accepted. We are an Anglican parish church with around 100 congregation, but no building, so we meet in a school hall.

My understanding of the bible verse quoted, is that it is referring to a person pretending to be the opposite sex, i.e. being "gender dishonest" or possibly wearing disguise for criminal purposes.
Wearing any type of clothing and being ones self is "gender honest" so I believe is not a problem.

I also love wearing towelling sarongs in the house and don't see a problem, because I am still the same Colin that I have always been and just choosing to wear something comfortable.

Happy kilting and skirting to all.

I'd watch it with that article. From reading through the associated comments it garnered it became clear that he was writing the article as satire. It very quickly boils down to the "dominant male/submissive female and the need to tell them apart at a glance".

Reading some of the comments, I got the impression that it's OK for women to wear pants if they're made for women, but it's not OK for men to wear kilts because they look like (and technically are) skirts.

I am a firm believer that Christianity is a lot of nonsense. Anyone who believes that you'll burn for eternity because you once took the dog for a walk in a denim skirt needs medication!

Anyone who thinks that a religion has a right to dictate what kind of clothes people can wear need to get a life!

Thank you for the article.

However... we can't have posts that describe any religion or religious persuasion as a bunch of nonsense. Therefore, I'm closing this thread before the flame war starts.
