Dresses
Re: Dresses
I don't have any particular designs in mind. I added the link because it hints at what the future might look like.
Perhaps, eventually, several different designs may emerge. The example of the leine suggests a design that extends just below the knees. I imagine ankle length garments being worn for leisure.

Thank you for that link indeed! The costumes are remarkable, and the narrative of the ceremony fair well brought tears to my eye!Grok wrote:I don't have any particular designs in mind. I added the link because it hints at what the future might look like.
On a "local" note, one of our own community here at SkirtCafe was wedded to his bride in a handfasting ceremony whilst wearing a dress of, I believe, his own design.
That could well be. I wonder if there's any historical precedence.Perhaps, eventually, several different designs may emerge. The example of the leine suggests a design that extends just below the knees. I imagine ankle length garments being worn for leisure.

Re: Dresses
I recall a comment on a kilt forum awhile back...that the next garment to be popularized will be the sarong.
So males will have garments that hang from the waist. But what of garments that hang from the shoulders?

Re: Dresses
Well, here's my little reaction to this fascinating subject. I just got my first proper dress. Straight t-shirt top knit dress. The most comfortable thing i have ever worn. Can't get me out of it! I haven't been up the street in it as yet, mainly as it has no pockets, but a blue cord skirt(with pockets!) can go over it. I think this one is quite wearable as a man.

Variety is possible.
Kaftans, kimonos, and the leine have already been mentioned.
Other examples:
The sleeveless tunics of the Incas; the gho of Bhutan; thobe/dishdasha of the Arabs; the hooded djellabah of North Africa....

Grok,
It's certainly nice that these folks have a dress like option, however, did you see this little tidbit....

Egad! The government of Bhutan requires all men to wear the gho if they work in a government office or school.

I have been aware that the Bhutan gov''t. dictates the wearing of the gho.
Nevertheless, I added the link to illustrate the possibilities.

I love it. Tomorrow (Sunday our time) i go down the street to get the paper in my wonderful Victoria Hill black unisex knit dress. Anything less would be an insult to their designer.Nothing over the top.
