And that is why the kilt has a double flat front apron - added a sporran helps immensely !

- as long as you are not jumping up and down. I wonder if this is why there are fewer and fewer male Highland dancers.

About tucking; if it wasn't comfortable I wouldn't do it. I can go all day without a problem what so ever.

Just like every thing in life, some like it and some dont.

Upon review I would be more to question how come 'NO BULGE" ?
How is he hiding it ?
Color of the skirt has a lot to do with better concealment - black and color block patterns being best - white or pale pastels the worst !
Also what is worn as a top and sox aka legwear in other words how well you blend in.
Contrasts are to be avoided unless intentional then beware you are under the microscope for comments such as here at this forum.
My last comment is a skaters skirt is less apt to need budge reduction as opposed to a pencil skirt - your VERY enjoyable experience must have been something !

Oh and glad you broke the ice (you did say skater skirt - or maybe that is a roller skate skirt) !

Women's boy shorts can help. I'm a 10 in skirts so I usually get an 8 in briefs which helps alot. Tummy control panties apparently help too. I wear them with skirts I want to have a flat front such as formal straight or pencil skirts. Denim ones don't have the problem due to material

I wear skirts because they are cool and there is room and ventilation where it is needed. It seems to defeat the purpose by binding and constraining for what ever reason.

Same thought here. I think some men wear skirts primarily for
1) comfort,
2) some for looks,
3) and some for making a statement of some kind.

I'm primarily (1), with a bit of (3), and a smaller bit of (2).

depends on if the underwear lets air circulate. Regardless of skirt design my legs feel liberated. Generally in kilts I am regimental  there's no real binding or constraining, it just presents a smoother look to the front of a straight skirt.

Even in the snug-fitting lycra-spandex undies I like (Jockey - men's) a skirt makes a difference.

That's me as well. Freedom of choice/expression is what I tend to say for the area in point 3.

I understand this feeling, if I wear a tightish thin material skirt a bulge can be seen and I don't feel comfortable about that, but the same bulge can be seen if I wear tight fitting jeans.

hairy, so what's the problem. Would you rather people think that you're very small or binding it somehow. And women have bigger bulges in a different place and they don't even attempt to hide them but often flaunt them. It is what it is and as you say tight bottoms of any ilk show it. I have skirts that show a bulge and it doesn't bother me.

I sort of agree, but my take is that THIS IS HOW MEN ARE MADE. Women show their bust in their clothing styles, and intentionally. They may wear bras for support, but they don't try to conceal the way they are made. Protruding female nipples are regarded as sexy now. There is no need for us to conceal our construction either. And women's swimsuits clearly emphasize the mons pubis, even to the point of the proverbial cameltoe. Fear not the bulge, gentlemen, unless you detest your own genitals. That, of course, is entirely another sort of problem.
