I cant wear men clothes like trousers or jean cos Im suffered from weight loss for more than 8 years as I used female clothes like jeans which has fit the size also I usual wear mini skirt more. only I wear female clothes with size between 6-8... anyway I dont mind as it look good on me -- so just wear it if you feel like to. I do wear opaque tights, mini skirt, any top and suede calf boots (flat heel) that lots comfortable. Men clothes are too big for me as Im only have lots of female clothes like jeans, skirts, jacket, footwear (flat heel only) and top/knitwear.
Hi Artemis,
I'm six foot tall, and around 150 lbs (it varies between 145-150) and when buying patterns for myself always purchase a size 16 or 18 - I need a 40 inch chest and a 32 inch waist, everything else (sleeve/back length/armhole etc) can be adjusted. You should have no trouble making nice fitting skirts or dresses if you sew them yourself.
Of course, it is thrilling to achieve your weight loss goals too. I've known a few women and men who stuck to it and feel years younger and healthier and happier since. Either way, I hope you find something on here to encourage you. Keep posting!

First forum post from me. I know I've seen it all on the intarweb, when it brings up this forum in a google search for 'men in skirts forum'.
Why do i wear a skirt .. short answer, i don't know.
I'm not of Scottish descent, but of rather dubious lineage from Ireland and England, long lost to the sands of time and a fire in Newfoundland's Census records long before i was born. Perhaps being of Newfie descent is reason enough to explain my relatively new skirt interest.
It's not a sexual thing for me, other than to let the 'boys' be free. I don't do it to attract attention from either sex. I'm definitely Hetero-leaning. Not that there's anything wrong with the alternative or 'kinks', just not my thing. I engage in 'skirting' for myself, in the comfort of my own home. It's considerably less slovenly than a bathrobe, when i just throw something on for knocking about the house.
I'm also pleased to say that an acute chronic medical issue has seen improvement on that portion of my anatomy as a side-effect, with deletion of pants-wearing about the house - I've seen much more improvement than medical intervention ever provided in the long term. I only wish for similar improvement for the rest of my skin surfaces. Turning to skirts as a 'home treatment' out of desperation, has turned into something that i actually enjoy for the comfort, even when my condition is in remission.
I live alone, on my own whims and schedule. I have no one to meet expectations for. Nor do i care what people think when i'm in the boundaries of my own Castle.
I don't know if i'll ever wear skirts/kilts in public.. at least the ones that are in my inventory at present. They aren't 'pretty', or really feminine in appearance - my own inhibitions haven't been broken down to that point as of yet. Perhaps a more masculine Irish pattern kilt, or a Utilikilt design would improve the chances of 'outing' myself to the general public in terms of my alternative dressing preference for comfort when the 'heat is on'. I'm a fairly thin guy at just under 6' high - not highly muscled, but absolutely no body fat either - not the most ideal body type for kilt wearing in public. Through trial and error, i've found that i'm a size 12 for women's skirts. I prefer a nice knee length corderoy or denim type skirt. Nothing frilly, thanks.
But then too, a man's Speedo does look damn silly and rediculous to me, and they are still fairly commonly seen on public beaches. No one really seems embarrassed on the beach - either the wearer, or the observers, for the Speedo outrage on their visual senses. A skirt in public can't be any worse, right?
In short, I guess i do it for my own comfort and my own sense of freedom from the greater Societal norms, such as they are - even if restricted to the boundaries of my own home for now. Perhaps i'm going through a mid-life crisis of sorts - or perhaps the older i get, the less i really give a shiite.

Paradox
Paradox,
Glad to see you posting, might as well join in with the rest of the blind and clueless.
You wonder why? We all do, but I think it comes down to a simple matter of preference. May as well ask someone why they like the color blue? I dunno, I just like it!
Judging from the increasing bagginess of shorts I have been seeing, my guess is that a lot of guys would wear skirts and enjoy it if they simply allowed themselves to try it!
I don't know "why" and I don't think I ever will and I am OK with that!

because I want to
I too wear skirts for the "because they are comfortable" etc. reason. Now its an odd thing: I don`t get asked why I am wearing a conventional shirt ( cotton, long sleeve, short sleeve, collar), and I don`t ask myself why either. All I know is that, from a range of options, a conventional shirt feels "right" to me. Similarly I wear briefs rather that boxers, I keep my hair shortish, I wear leather shoes, and so on. ( really I`m repeating JRMiller here
)
So, as far as the lower body is concerned skirts feel "right" for me. I don`t sit down and analyse my clothing choices, and thankfully I don`t feel the need to be a clone of every other chap around.

You only get one crack at this life so, as long as its legal decent and honest, if you want to do it, then do it!

Wearing a skirt is kind of a spiritual experience for me, I like to take long walks in meditation while wearing a skirt. A skirt seems enhance the meditation.
I do agree with all the others that a skirt is more comfortable than pants, after wearing a skirt for awhile I don't want to go back to pants(its like putting on bad fitting shoes).
A skirt looks much nicer than pants, ever notice guys with the crotch of their pants half way to the knees and think that they would look much better in a skirt! I have never had a problem with plumbers crack showing while in a skirt.
A skirt is cooler than shorts on a hot day.

Re: Why do you Wear a Skirt/Kilt
You know I started thinking about this very thing last night after a decussion I had with my wife last night. For me there are alot of reason's.
1. I am tired of people trying to keep me under there tumb and tell me who I am suppose to be. I am me and if they do not like it there is the door don't let it hit you in !@# on the way out!
2. Because I am tired of the boring old male cloths that I have had to wear for 34 years of my life!
3. Becuase women have been winning about equality for so long it isn't even funny, but yet they are the ones that dictate how a man is suppose to look. Yet it is ok and excepteable for them to look how they want. Like I told my wife one day as she was on my !@# about wearing skirts I said and I quote "You think that just becuase you have a vagina that you have the right to tell me who I am suppose to be and more importantly how I am suppose to dress you are wrong!"
4. Becuase skirts are way more comfortable than pants, even wearing with hose ( and yes I wear my skirts most of the time with hose)
5. Becuase I am a GUY AND I CAN WEAR WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT!
6. Last but not least for the last few years I have sat back and watched men take it were the sun don't shine! From the work place, to the court room, to the devorce court, you name it the list could go on and on. I mean if we really set back and take a look at are work place are the rules really fair? What I mean is if you take a male who is a manager that has a female under him and he tell's her you need to do this and she doesn't or doesn't like it what happens? She starts in about harassment right off of the bat, even though that may not have been the case! It goes to court and guess what happens uless the male boss has the black and white evedance to prove his case he ends up loosing becuase lets face it the system is geared twoard females now a days!
Well those are just a few of my reason's! For the most part I would wear skirts more often if I where home more and 2 I wasn't in the EMS field. Even though I have finally figured out that what I do when I am off duty and out of uniform doesn't matter, becuase they don't control me off the clock!

Re: Why do you Wear a Skirt/Kilt
I've probably already answered this question, but I'll state my reason anyway----BECAUSE I CAN! And I like it too!

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.
Re: Why do you Wear a Skirt/Kilt
I wear a kilt because, besides the comfort, it is an acceptable way to indulge my crossdressing tendencies.
