So they were just wearing standard men's sports clothing that's been around for decades, then?BBB wrote:To add to my last. They were wearing sport tights and anoraks/fleeces.
Pantyhose tights and such.

Tights for Walking...
I use powerstretch tights for cross-country skiing, and mountain-biking in really cold weather - I can well imagine these would be quite suitable for hiking in cold and damp conditions..BBB wrote:The point is that they were just walking and did not appear to be doing anything athletic.
Wearing a skirt over them may dress them up, but otherwise wouldn't be necessary or exactly practical - as all it would do is add an extra unnecessary layer (unless it gets really cold - when you can then whip out either your skirt or pants, and use them as an over layer..).

As I have stated before, spandex leggings are one of the staples of my style. I wear them as pants, with long shirts or loose low hanging belts. I do what I can to obscure that area most people prefer to not see.
Leggings are very comfortable if sized right, and are in good condition. I think the fear most people have of wearing them is a irrational thought that it is an old 80's fashion (what's so bad about that). I have heard fashionistas say stupid crap like "the resurgance of the 80s leggings is terrible" or other such nonesense. I say screw what these status quo enforces say, grab a a pair of black or subdued colored leggings, put'em on with a nice top, and wear them with pride.

I have a female friend who wears leggings and tunics on a regular basis and looks fabulous. She's tiny: short and very slender, has got big red hair and wear fantasical big earrings. I don't know how old she is, but she retired a few years back.

i used veet cream to remove hairy (it for men as well which usual for women but it avaiable for men) and then clean out hair from legs instead of shaver - it very nicely with tights on - I used between 40 denier <> 90 deniner opaque tights (already have Wolford 50 deiner Fatal tights - it very soft but it too costly - the warmer one I have are Wolford Cotton Velvet which is stronger enough) - I have other one but not cheaper one.

Sucessfull use of Tights
To all;
I find the comfilon brand style A869, full support, are great.
They come with the male 'comfort' panel, and the fit is tremendous.
After 5 minutes you don't even think about them. They fit like
a second skin. The style A849 has the fly opening, but
not as supportive. If you will be on your feet a lot, or have had
DVT ( Deep Vein Thrombosis--a.k.a. blood clots in the leg ) like
I've had, the A869 is best.
Here is there web site.

They now offer GERBE brand. Still out of my price range
though. I've considered getting the beige for under my
kilt, but haven't done that yet. The black and brown work
quite well with dress shoes, and will feel good even in tr***rs.
If you think they are hot, try having to wear P-hose,
and Jobst hip-high, 50-70 mb of compression while mowing the yard.
The only time they were off were in bed or the shower.
But!!!! For the last 10 years, I'm DVT-FREEEEEEE

Comfilon's staff are excellent to work with.

BTW-get rid of the hair on the legs. They will stay up all day long
that way--no saging!

Different brands of Tights
My wife and I were at Kohl's department store last night.
The have a brand of tights called 'Chaps'. She suggested
purchasing only 1 pair, to try them out to see if they work.
I purchased two pair as they were half price. $12.00 for both.
They are a bit hard to put on the first time, but the fit
is tremendous. They do have support in the legs.
They are also comfy in this cold weather. They don't
slide down either.
The Worthington brand, at J.C.Penny's, is good too,
just they don't have as much leg support as the Chaps.
Both will help keep the legs warm in these cold temps.
Also, both are being phased out as they are 'Fall-Winter'
wear. The Spring-Summer fashions are coming out
on the racks.
It's kind of funny, in Wal-Mart, to see heavy winter
coats 'on sale', right next to the rack showing
bikini swim suits.
