Re: Why don’t more men wear skirts?
skirtyscot and crfriend, thanks for the encouragement. I'm probably hypersensitive about theoretical harassment because of some bad experiences I've had in the past, even though they had nothing to do with clothing. Working on improving this!
Re: Why don’t more men wear skirts?
May be men don't wear kilts or skirts because they are not aware of a few simple facts:
1. They are not only comfortable when simply lounging around the house but during long drives and reportedly plane trips extremely worthwhile.
2. When first looking to wear a kilt I decided to do some research into testicular cancer. Seems that it is uncommon in countries where men wear garments other than pants.
3. When a married couple have a difficult time having a baby, one of the recommendations is for the guy to switch to boxer shorts rather than briefs.
4. Men's sperm count has dropped dramatically since the end of the Victorian era.

Interesting, but correlation does not equal causation.JoeBro wrote:May be men don't wear kilts or skirts because they are not aware of a few simple facts:

The cancer and sperm count could also be related to the western diet, it doesn't necessarily condemn trousers (not that I am a trouser "supporter")....

Life is too short to be afraid.Men will eventually wear skirts again, maybe not in our lifetime...knowing that history repeats itself.

The kilt is manly, so I embrace it means you are so desparade for the approval of others that you arbitrarily limit your choices.

I find it amusing that a man in a skirt might be seen as an object of derision, no matter how tastefully he might be attired while no one says a peep about this:skirtilator wrote:Life is too short to be afraid.Men will eventually wear skirts again, maybe not in our lifetime...knowing that history repeats itself.I started with a kilt, because it is sooo manly.
What, those chicks are too ignorant or stupid to know the difference and laughing at me.
Yeah, technically it is a skirt, a skirt is just a garment, being yourself is not free in terms of approval and why the heck I wear clothes for others who think there was some oestrogen in the fabric or something?
Maybe some tights, otk socks and a hoodie?
Yeah, let those ignorants laugh if they want, I am cool.
Yeah, aspies are rational human beings that leads inevitably to a certain outcome.

Go figure.

It's even worse when you see that close up in person!crfriend wrote:ARRRGH! My eyes!JeffB1959 wrote:I find it amusing that a man in a skirt might be seen as an object of derision, no matter how tastefully he might be attired while no one says a peep about this:

I have also seen the following:
1. A man wearing a long shirt with a collar and buttons without a bottom (e.g., pants or skirt).
2. A man wearing basket ball shorts with a gaudy pair of pajama pants underneath.

The reduction of the sperm count in men may have more to do with the preponderance of oestrogen like compounds in the environment effectively feminising men.

I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

If anything, I think it may be the other way 'round with a preponderance of environmental testosterone. How else would you explain the level of bad behavior on the roads by soccer-moms driving monster trucks?Sinned wrote:The reduction of the sperm count in men may have more to do with the preponderance of oestrogen like compounds in the environment effectively feminising men.

There's a reason I'm contemplating buying one of these puppies for my next little car. (I'd buy one for my current little car, but the horn would be worth more than the vehicle.

Want one! Wish I could afford it and the cost of importing, as well as the fines for using one (probably).crfriend wrote:If anything, I think it may be the other way 'round with a preponderance of environmental testosterone. I remember a Riding Stables in Kintyre, they had a way to recall riders and staff from the hills when they needed to which really amused me. First, a set of ear defenders (Very important), second, an air compressor, the sort which powers jackhammers etc. Third, a piece of rubber hose, finally, a ships horn, complete with warning that it was not to be used on vessels under 5000 tons. I only heard it once, it worked rather well!
I wonder what became of the family and the stables, good memories of an all night party in a barn, lots of kilted idiots, a hog roast, music by a band I used to mix for, lots of alcohol, a quad bike, a Unimog (The ultimate 4*4), hiding from a ride out after hearing which horse they had picked for me. Fun and lunacy, they were the days! That was before I bought my first kilt and started indulging in skirtery.

How do those low-slung trousers stay up? A belt might help, but any movement is going to ease them downwards.
Keep on skirting,

You're lucky, my friend. I live in da 'hood, and I see that lunacy each and every day. As to how they stay up, good question, but it's comical to watch those young fools waddle down the the street because of how low the waistband is, and every five to teen feet or so, they pull up the pants and carry on.crfriend wrote:ARRRGH!
