Linking to a particular post

He was wearing a black maxi skirt, she was wearing ... something less memorable! I was skirted too, as you would expect. We didn't stop or speak to each other, but there was a brief nod of acknowledgement as we passed. Then a couple of seconds later she said "Did you see that he's wearing a skirt?" Hard not to: it was the one near the foot of this page viewtopic.php?t=19498&start=255

(How do you link to a particular post?)
At the end of the URL of the page which contains the post which you wish to link to, the URL finishes with &start= then a number which is the number of the post in the thread.
You then count downwards from the first post on the page which you are looking at, down to the post which you wish to refer to and change the number to the one which you've reached.
In this case the first post on the page was 255 and the one which you wanted to link to was 266.
So the complete URL is viewtopic.php?t=19498&start=266

Carl might be able to turn on a feature in the forum's software so that each individual post has a link within it which allows its URL to be copied and shared?
I've seen this feature on some other forums.

Edit: BTW This post is viewtopic.php?t=10940&start=1798  :)

The first post in a thread is actually the zero post so it would be &start=0 at the end of the URL but that is a bit redundant!

I've just noticed that below the title of a post is a number after a hash symbol, this post's is #1800 so a URL to link to this post would end in &start=1799
The URL to the first post in the thread ends in zero even though it says #1, so it's URL would end in &start=0 but that isn't necessary to create a link to it.

Here is the link to share this post
viewtopic.php?t=10940&start=1799

Here's the cheat for that problem. Find the post you wish to link to, and on the post's title, right-click and do a "copy URL". That can then be pasted into another post bracketed by "url" descriptors.

General syntax:

Code: Select all

descriptive text

Am in Karlstad in Sweden with my son. On Saturday, I saw a tall man with beard and moustache in a black skirt (one with ruffles in the front - semi apron style front design). He was with a friend and the look was coordinated and tasteful. I didn't get a picture as I don't like to take pix of complete strangers.

Hi all, It was a really hot day yesterday in Wetherby, Yorkshire, UK. I saw a man in a shortish - above the knee - sun dress. He was just walking through the town with all the other shoppers. He was completely bald and sporting a fine pair of knobbly knees. The dress had thin shoulder straps. It certainly looked alright to me and no-one else seemed to take any notice as if it was quite usual. Unfortunately I was trousered: Shame.

Best wishes

Derek.

I may have seen two last weekend, one looked like one of the homeless, but he was definately wearing a red skirt, the other was outside the grocery, which I didn't get as close a look at, but as I drove by It looked rather unbifurated. Three if you count a femboy at the mall.

Yesterday afternoon in one of our local shopping centres I was getting something to eat for my little one when a family walked past, and only out of the corner of my eye I noticed that the dad was wearing what looked like a black wrap skirt, similar to a lavalava, they were gone before I managed to see just what it was. I may have seen this family there before, but it was a while ago.

He wasn't attracting any attention from anyone that I noticed. I have seen a couple of younger guys wearing skirts around the place, so not the first.

I was shopping in my local Tesco supermarket today wearing my kilt and a black tank top with waistcoat. Whilst there, I seen a tall thin guy in his 20s wearing a long summer dress and sand shoes and multi coloured socks that were rolled down to his ankle.

Now that would have been a sight I would have liked to see!

I was in Wells market place this morning. The wife had just bumped into a mutual friend and they were having a good natter. A guy crossed the road and complimented me on my skirt (knee length A-line denim). I looked down and behold, he too was wearing denim skirt, so I complimented him back. That made my morning ... and the wife didn't even notice him :D

I went to my local Home and Farm store this morning. At the checkout was a man wearing a camouflage skirt. I live in a small rural town in Kansas, so this surprised me. I ended up checking out before him and waited outside for him to come out. We had a brief conversation about the comfort of wearing skirts. Unfortunately I was wearing shorts since I can't wear skirts locally (to much of a chance of being seen by family members). My wife has made it very clear that I'm never to be seen in a skirt by friends or family (or her for that matter).

Nice that you saw and spoke with him. I wonder if he had any clues, assurances for you; & if you shared the encounter with your family? It is bad enough to be in a prison of social regimentation from perceptions of what the world might think; even worse when it is your own loved ones trying to put the lid on your coffin. I hope the encounter may have given you some edge, hope, and spunk toward self-actualization.
