Jamie001, you are asking me to compare male v female attire - or perhaps you’re contrasting different approaches.
I have not done that. I’ve just expressed a personal view of what I like wearing. Just because I love wearing skirts, tights etc doesn’t stop me wearing fabulous men’s suits with all the trimmings (matching watch, cuff links etc).
What women want to wear is their thing. I’ve already stated that men don’t HAVE to wear ties. I just like it when appropriate.

If I am forced to wear a tie, I might be inclined to wear it with a skirt suit along with obvious make up and heels. I would also add bracelets. Heck, I might even get my ears pierced so I could wear hoop earrings. Yes, you can say I am a non-conformist.
But no one could accuse me of trying to pass as a woman. When I speak with my masculine deep voice that illusion of being a woman would be gone.
I mentioned that to a buddy at church and he told me, "John, please don't wear a tie!"
John
I have gotten my ears pierced. So if I am forced to wear a tie I would add large dangly earrings to the above mentioned outfit.

Way to go John, huge congratulations. Your only problem now is to leave them alone for a month to heal. Then you can start wearing dangly earrings, hoops and anything you please.

I could claim I was a transgender woman, but that goes against my grain.
I believe locker rooms and washrooms "bathrooms" should be treated differently. In a locker room people can see genitals, but not in a washroom provided stalls are used. Thus I believe that ban of transgender women using a women's washrooms is stupid.

Never been a fan of ties myself—just feels like a pointless strip of fabric strangling me for no real reason. Wore one for school and later for work in an office, and honestly, the second I switched to a more casual job, I never looked back. I get that they look smart in formal settings, but the idea that men have to wear them while women usually don’t is just one of those weird traditions that stuck around. Plenty of places have already relaxed dress codes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if ties slowly phase out, except for really formal events.

I get around the idea of wearing ties in a formal setting by wearing a dress!

I've reached my late 40's without ever wearing a tie, and I'm not planning on starting now

I'm with you, but it took some high school formal events/date/dances & even the bloody USMC had a uniform tie -- craziest thing ever to think of a tie and killing in the same body -- unless of course it was meant to kill us! Then, a short period of working for a very British Company in BC Canada where we didn't even say 'bloody' in the shop that really capped it for me. When I got lucky enough to be laid off because I was not prepared to work inside sales, I swore I'd not wear a tie again; nor shave, or live in a dang city where hours of my life were lost in traffic ---best thing that ever happened to me: Good bye tie; an occasional beard trim and a few extra years of not breathing exhaust fumes and bye-bye to the stresses of city traffic.
Such a useless piece of cloth -- maybe one of our talented seamstresses can make 'quilt-like skirts out of them!

I went to a private prep High School where coat and tie was the daily dress code. There were also a couple of other specific uniforms that were required for certain events. So for 3 years, I lived in ties. As I began typing this, it just occurred to me that ties and maybe socks were one of the few things a guy could use to add some color to an otherwise drab outfit. I've had some that were pretty flamboyant.

Yes, heck of a limitation to having a bit of color in your life -- getting strangled with it! And even then you had to choose the color/pattern from what was acceptable vogue of the time. Amazing that "paisley" was ever granted! Now, even argyle socks are thought to be garish; but can add a little pizazz. I just inherited some rather wild socks my sister made by knitting some critter images onto them -- fun, but a challenge to find the outfit and times they work. They certainly garner many a comment, smiles -- good ice-breakers!

I get around the issue of having to wear a tie to add color to the drab coat and trousers by wearing a dress! There is far more variety with dresses than with coats and trousers. And a little makeup never hurt anything.

Nothing quite that fancy, Steve. I had one that was reversible and had a nudie on one side.
