the rule of thumb with stockings/pantyhose/tights/etc...
........................................................................................................
if your height or weight indicates a larger size, go with THAT size.

if the fit isn't right, adjust by moving up or down in size (whichever is appropriate)

if you CAN'T find the right fit, you may need to change brands.
........................................................................................................
pantyhose are like almost ALL other female garments, the sizing is manufacturer-specific. therefore, what is a queen size in one may not be queen size in another.

fortunately, they are very elastic. this means there's a lot of lee-way for different bodies.

also, the amount of lycra/spandex/elastic will cause a better fit, as plain nylon won't stretch to conform to your body. it just stretches out of shape :?

Be sure to be "well manicured" and avoid any bushes, rough obstacles etc. Tights don't like that.
Keep your hands in good condition, using hand conditioner is not only good for them, but helps prevent rough hands with regards to pantys.
There are (here) cotton gloves specially for use when putting on or of pantys. Any fine cotton gloves will do.
Making your hands moist seems to help, has been told to me.
In general, make sure there are no snags on your feet or hands.
I am sure the sales people at specialist panty shops would be glad to advise.
I get very friendly response here. ( in the Netherlands) .

Sizing is very difficult. Ask around, ask women, and of course ask what the specialist personnel in specialist shops advise. They should know their brands.

It is a buy and try effort. The best is to choose one brand, buy the size that is suggested by the sizing table if any, and as stated before, go up or down a size if it does not fit correctly.
what is a correct fit? I don't know. What I do know is that some do have much stretch, and I have bought size XXL pantys, thinking that as often is the case, i needed the largest, being 6 foot one, and some 180 pounds. Which is often even above the tables on the packages. But as i asked another time, already having maybe ten pantys already, the shop assistent said to me, try size L -XL which was the middle size. She took it out of the package and stretched it out and said, this has enough lenght to fit properly. So I now have the smaller size. The big fault we make is not to buy a pair which we think is too small. So we then don't really know if that will fit as it should. Always be careful with them, as they get "holed"quite easily but are quite pleasurable to wear once you get used to them. Not wearing them saves you bags of money. But then you don't have any warmth, comfort, or nice effect from them either.

Some one told me that some pantys ( the most ) with Lycra I think, should be stretched carefully before wearing them. So I began to think, Thet is how I realised that what I had was possibly too large. when they are too large, they start to sag, rimple. The ideal fit is I think that they with careful pulling up are stretched so that the crutch just barely comes up high enough, and the legs are tight aroungd the legs, (not constricting) and not beyond elasticity, then if all is well, with the chosen brand and model, then the pants elastic will not be somewhere up around your under arms as some are, but around your normal waist height.

Those simple gloves can be obtained in the US where they are used for night moisturizing of the hands. Here, they are called manicure gloves. Crabtree and Evelyn sells them both in shops and online. Bath and Body Works carries them in their stores in the malls and also in their online stores.

O and I forgot, now that I wear pantys regularly, I always have a spare pair in my handbag, with a pair of cotton gloves, as even underway, for a pitstop, the pantys must be moved and then care must be taken.

Possibly too much for a Brave heart, he has it easy. But for any man who likes wearing other skirts, and matching apparel, along with pantys, then the gloves are a practical must, along with a pair of reserve pantys. This is one of the reasons handbags are so much needed.

Did I mention wetting the hands, it gives then a better grip, and temporarilly seems to counteract dry rough skin.

A little observation from my personal experience :-

When I first tried pantyhose, they seemed constantly to work themselves down. At the time I assumed this was because I was not wearing pantyhose that was large enough.

Then I tried removing my leg hair with an epilator (instead of shaving) I observed that suddenly the same pantyhose size seemed to fit much better. What I think was happening previously was the leg stubble would tug the pantyhose down a little each time I moved -- gradually ratcheting the pantyhose down. The epilator seemed to achieve a totally smooth leg that does not tug pantyhose down, thus allowing them to fit better.

You are possibly very correct trhere. A good answer to men's problems with pantys. As women have lighter hair growth or do their best to be hair free.

SkirtDude wrote:I like the looks more too. Where the the chepo ones I usually wear look like panythosed legs from a distance these look more like very smooth, "creamy" legs.

My experience was that the B sizes always stretched a lot after the first wearing and got baggier with time. After a few more holiday events I'll report how this pair is holding up.
My experience, so far, is that it can be worth paying a little more for a quality pair of pantyhose. The cheap ones often struggle to last more than 1 wearing, whereas a quality pair can survive a dozen typical wearings or more.

The wearing of Hose or stockings

Post by Hawkrider3 »

My experince is that you have to do the following:

1. Removing the hair from your legs is a must. The nylon will grip much better and they won't sag or pull down nearly as much.
2. Pantyhose desidned for women are ok most of the time. One size won't fit anyone over about 5'10', even women. If you are looking at the size charts on the package and you fall someplace near the center line, buy the bigger size, it will fit better.
3. You get what you pay for, plain and simple. You buy cheap hose, you will have to buy again in a week or two if you aren't careful. You buy some more expensive ones and you will be forever grateful, even if you ruin them.
4. You have to keep your hands and feet in good condition, use hand lotion to help keep your skin softer and always clip and file both your fingers and toes. Nail polish will help keep the rough edges covered for maybe a week before you need to do it again, no matter the color. If your polish has lame (metal particles) in it, you have to use a top coat or two.
5. If you wear hose with no socks, try to find shoes that have a sock type liner, it will help. Unless you are wearing sandals, the type with reinforced toes and heels will last far longer. Don't wear regular white sport socks with hose unless you don't mind having sock matter implanted in you hose.

Since most of you have a computer, you can find excellent quality hose on line. Gerbe makes hose for men and they are GREAT!. Some styles even have a "fly" so that you can use the toilet with out stretching out the waist band. Comflins is another brand that you can buy online (only) from a company in Ohio. Legwear4men.com is another good online retailer. I'm sure that you can find more if you search for mens hose on the net also.

If you really want to learn about tip and hint for wearing legwear, then type in "Legwear as a unisex fashion" in your search engine and look at the Delphi forum site. Lots of good information and some nice folks also. Be warned though, they don't like talk about skirts or specific "off topic" discussions.

And just in my humble opinion, if you are wearing a skirt and you don't have some sort of legwear on, you just aren't dressed right.

Hope this helps answer some of the questions and maybe generates more!

Skirt dude's experience is exactly what I felt when I wore those type of hose beneath my dress for my friend's wedding (The black and gold Chenongam). Those are so smooth feeling hose, even the top "panty" portion felt light and easy wearing.

When you wore them skirtdude, were they all you wore under the skirt you wore? That is how I find hose most comfortable and more likely to let it seem you are not wearing them.

What was the event by the way, and what outfit? piccies?

Personally, I prefer these for all outdoor activities during cold weather, whether under a skirt or pants.

I went for a walk in my kilt this morning. Unfortunately it was foggy so there was not much to see. On my way back to the car I passed 3 men walking in the opposite direction, all 3 were wearing tights. We exchanged good mornings and carried on. We are slowly moving ahead
