Yea, I think you're over thinking it. Most people are afraid of "Goths". I think it may be the unabashed, unapologetic way that they defy certain conventions. I think that if you wear pancake make-up with black eye and lip color, and black fingernails, no one will bother you regardless of what you wear. I'd go for the broomstick skirt.
