Wear a kilt if permissable, otherwise it'd be trousers or shorts.
timemeddler wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 4:30 pm Find something else toto wear that isn't illegal but is at least as if not more rebellious.
If feeling rebellious how about shorts with an apron over the top so some think its a skirt until closer inspection is undertaken, the same could also apply with shorts and a long jumper tied around the back.

I wonder where a skort would fit in this scenario (shorts or a skirt?)

OK suggestions?
High heel, tiarras, girly ribbons in the hair, corsets, confederate uniform, or worse?

I've seen some Skorts that are made that way. Looks like a skirt from the front and shorts from the back.

I believe that the term is "scooter."

OK, men are banned from wearing skirts so I’ve mentioned wearing a kilt instead. One of my other suggestions would be wearing cycling shorts, t-shirt mini dresses, fishnet tights.

Fortunately, in reality I cannot see men being banned from wearing skirts in this country and I see the Scottish nationalists winning another term in government and the SNP are supporters of the LGBTQ movement. I know MIS are not LGBTQ but at least we won’t be banned from wearing skirts.

BTW I’m not a supporter of any political party as I’m not interested in politics.

I would undo the inseam of a pair of shorts and say they just needed repair.
I could say the mini skirt was a shirt extender.
There are skorts that are skirt at front an shorts at back. Actually they are shorts with an apron attached to the front. Would that be half illegal?
Perhaps magnets on the hem that would make it look like shorts in an instant.
Perhaps shorts with a large fold down waist.
What about crotchless shorts?

As an architect I am used to renaming things to get around restrictive regulation.

I would keep wearing skirts even if it meant going to court and argue any of the above or cite a number of medical problems necessitating the absence of an inseam.

Mouse wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 2:37 pm I think we are in need of a Stevie ruling on the legal term “skirt” in his law
In this scenario all garments and accessories designated as womenswear are prohibited for men to wear in any public space.
Men will be only allowed to wear "MALE" prescribed items in sober and masculine design.
Note that women will not be at liberty to wear these clothes, but will continue to enjoy the choices as befits their sex.
Kilts and other male ascribed garments will be subject to close scrutiny by the newly formed Department of Sumptuary Standards, their powers of enforcement being in line with current policing regulations.
These measures are being taken to counter the threat to our nations security from certain sectors of our society denying the natural order of their assigned gender at birth.

Oh, there are more holes in this than a colander, but if a regime starts to think this way. and they have done and still do, what next?
Steve.

So with this ruling, kilts become the preferred male skirt, but then with a sewing machine, kilts can become longer and shorter, more colourful and made in interesting materials.

I would have someone make me a bright pink kilt.

Note this clause very well, the government has given the "Kilt Police" teeth!

As above Mouse and anyone else who thinks there's a way round this.

This is likely to be more permissible actually.

The aim of the policy is really to enforce what a lot of society already believes, men have no business wanting to wear female or feminine clothing.
It is also a very direct attack on the transgender community and no matter how much you could argue otherwise, men in skirts are most definitely caught up in it.
This, gentlemen, is the world we occupy in the here and now, some places easier than others, but you take that freedom for granted at your peril.
Steve.

Yes, as long as you also have the requisite accessories to satisfy the Sumptuary Requirements. Frankly you should get a flaming medal or certified insane going out in that one, eugh!

Maybe a man could get away with wearing a stealth skirt. Looking like rather baggy shorts. Knee length, perhaps. If there is a way to fasten front and back hem between the legs, in a "shorts" mode, it could be claimed that the garment isn't a true skirt.
