It looks like there is at least 3 different skirts in that photo? I definitely like the one the guy is wearing...I never get dressed up formally for anything but if I did, I'd pick an outfit like that any day.

The skirt that the guys is wearing does look kilt like.. I don't see that it would draw any negative attention.

I'd not like to be working a packed train of rowdy sports fans in that skirt.
Negative and positive, the attention would be considerable.
crfriend wrote: Wed Oct 01, 2025 9:25 pm The question remains -- "Will any male employees choose the skirt option, or was it just put in there for show?"
In the final analysis it doesn't matter as far as Eurostar is concerned, the box is ticked, they have been seen to do the "right" thing.
Their male staff will have the right to choose to wear a skirt but that still begs a question.
Is it the kiltish abomination or any from the uniform range, likewise the women is their choice open or limited to garments designated by gender.
Steve.

The new range of Eurostar uniforms looks great, I like just about all the items worn, especially the high collar waistcoat & the green DM’s (I’ve always wanted a pair of those).
I really like the skirted uniform & would definitely wear that, but I wonder what if I wanted to wear matching Navy Blue opaque tights instead of the socks?

I wonder what the uniform would look like if the guy on the far right,
wore a white shirt, dark blue tie(matching the jacket) and a light blue,
matching the pocket puff, vest/waistcoat :?:

You could have some fun with this :D

Eurostar must be on the right track then 🙂. Considered a commendation in the civilised world.

Not surprisingly, William Sitwell in the Torygraph doesn't like the skirt option: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/1 ... e-uniform/
'But that was not the highlight, of course, as Eurostar proudly announced that its uniforms would “fit all genders, body types and personalities” with the aim to “empower staff to express their individuality”. So down the catwalk, or rather, through the carriage, came a man in a skirt. I mean he looked like a man – he had a beard – but he might have been self-identifying as one of those other sexes. Because, as we are learning, many humans now like to take a leaf out of the mushroom fraternity, among whom there are some 36,000 genders.'

And what’s depressing is that the right wing press still conflate sex and gender. Gender is nothing but a social construct, invented by humans. It doesn’t exist but it’s caused a multitude of problems in terms of how men and women are supposed to behave and present themselves. I never agreed to the gender box when I was born and I now reject the artificial constraints it imposed insidiously. So why as a society aren’t we having the real conversation about binning the gender binary all together? Freedom for everyone is far more important than nonsensical inventions from 200 years ago.

More to the point, they don't get that wearing a skirt doesn't necessarily have anything to do with gender. I also suspect William S and many of the commenters were/would have been equally upset when women were no longer obliged to wear skirts and "show a bit of leg"...

I noticed a poll on the page too and decided to try it:

Do you support Eurostar's new uniform?

Yes, why should uniform be gendered? 9%
No, it will just reward attention-seeking staff 91%
Total votes: 9,834

Fits with the general tone of the comments too. Many assume that man wearing a skirt means they want to dress as a woman or push their gender in your face (although the comment about suggesting your face should be nearer the headrest gave me a chuckle!)

What a shocking poll result which doesn’t surprise me and just proof that the majority of the general public are just narrow minded bigots when it comes to MIS.

I don't know about the UK, but I had a bus driver tell me that it's a common occurrence, while complaining about mine.

To be fair, it's more an indicator of how narrow minded a majority of Torygraph readers are...
