And therein lies the controversy: One man's "clown" is another man's "bold self-expression". To much of the world, a heavyset bearded man looks like a clown just by wearing a skirt.
So... who makes the determination or draws the boundary between serious and clownish?
NB: If you literally meant "dressed as a clown", as in the comically oversized and misshapen outfits that actual clowns wear, I withdraw my question. Although if I really wanted to wind you up, I'd suggest that even there we get into a state of fashion judgement and presume that a person dressed that way is simply expressing himself without intentionally looking like a clown
