The difference is evident in the photo on this page - http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/ ... oject.html - the shirt-from-khakis has a horizontal wrinkle at the base of the zipper. I think this comes from pulling the former inseams together to sew them - when I lay a pair of pants flat on a table, the legs diverge slightly.. if I want to make the legs parallel, I have to lift the crotch slightly to shorten the inseams relative to the sideseams, causing each leg to rotate around the outside hip and forming a bubble of material where the photo shows the wrinkle. The material you would want for the legs to join into a smooth fronted skirt, was cut off before the inseams were originally sewn.
