Skirt on a Bicycle (with pictures)
Re: Skirt on a Bicycle (with pictures)
i've been skirted bike riding a lot. in the netherlands we al ride bikes lots of times. i wore an above knee rather straight skirt. luckily (and totally conincidentally) i have a women's bike (easier to get onto) but when i first got on in skirt i tried to swing my leg around the back. Shouldn't do that in a skirt1 (specially not such a short one) if you don't want to fall over.

Why not? That's the only way I ever mount.wichor wrote:... when i first got on in skirt i tried to swing my leg around the back. Shouldn't do that in a skirt1 (specially not such a short one) if you don't want to fall over.
When I was younger, I was sometimes able to mount by swinging my legs over the handlebars (a useful skill if you're riding in front on a tandem), but I'm no longer that flexible. I'd like to get back to that point, because if I could, the skirt would naturally end up in front of the seat instead of behind.

Yeah, that's how I mount too, but in a tight skirt can't do that (and believe me, I'm Dutch so a skilled biker). Unless you have it cropped up all the way to your private parts.AMM wrote:Why not? IMHO, yet another reason not to wear tight skirts. My feeling is, if I'm going to wear something that restricts my movement, I might as well stick with trousers or shorts.wichor wrote:Yeah, that's how I mount too, but in a tight skirt can't do thatAMM wrote:Why not? As usual, YMMV.

Re: Skirt on a Bicycle (with pictures)
Different strokes for different folks. I have a physical problem that causes me pain in an A-line or wider skirt, so I wear mostly straight skirts. I'm old and not nearly as active as a lot of our members are, and since I spend most of my time sitting, skirts that hold my upper legs together solve my problem and bring me down from 240 Loricets a month to about 10 a month which makes me far more alert too. As I am somewhat corpulent, my stomach tends to hang between my thighs and pull at my backbone, causing bad back pain if I'm wearing an A-line or wider skirt.
I prefer bigger, wider skirts for look and feel, but need the tighter ones for comfort when sitting. I really like the beautiful skirts AMM makes for himself and would love to be able to wear such skirts regularly. Maybe if my weight loss continues I will be able to.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

But when wearing a longer wider skirt, when you swing your leg over the back, the skirt ends up on the luggage carrier and is not hanging to the front, making it look like it's shorts.AMM wrote:IMHO, yet another reason not to wear tight skirts.
