You are right Carl, though on occasion it's easy to forget that, like all teenagers he has an innate ability to wind his parents up on occasion

Although I generally find youngsters are the most likely group to offer wolf whistles, cat calls or gentle banter, they are also by far the least judgemental when I speak to them and generally are far more receptive to ideas that challenge convention than the older fogies of my generation. It is easy to run kids down, but when I'm honest with myself I see nothing to suggest that today's youngsters are any worse than I was at their age. Language and conventions may have changed but I'm sure my father was just as wound up by me as I sometimes am by today's kids.

Ian, this made me smile. I can imagine the conversation:
"Dad, your skirts are making life at school difficult."
"Well son, I do my best not to wear skirts around your friends, what more can I do?"
"No that's not the problem, you are never seen in them and nobody believes me when I tell them."

That really goes to show the problems that can come from trying to predict what someone else needs without checking with them. I'm so glad you had that talk and everybody is happy now.
