Well, very bad spelling. As far a the "content" - Not a very big Gary Cooper fan, good actor but I don't idolize people.

I think perhaps he was aiming his barb at your use of "noone" in your post as if it was a real word - it isn't. "No one" is correct, and the addition of the space doesn't cost a thing!

Yeah, I was, Kris. Sorry about that, Imadube, I'm just sooooooooooo bent out of shape watching the "Dumbing Down Of America" go on around me and know that I'm supposed to not say anything because people born since 1985's Pennsylvania State Court decision that parents couldn't punish their children no matter what they did went to the Supreme Court in 1987 and was passed there too. So now in America children are praised and given trophies for losing. That's true, a fact, a sad fact but a fact all the same. In today's America at a sports game for children, both sides are given trophies. The trophies are the same size, wouldn't want the losing child feeling bad because his trophy was smaller than the winning child. Heaven forbid!

We in America can look forward to a future of dumber, unhappier, more violent children and because of these 2 court decisions, a more unsafe America for all that live here. The fewer than before smarter children, mostly born of brighter parents who disregarded the 1985/87 decisions and taught their children the old fashioned way will take longer to dumb down, but I'm very afraid that movie "Idiocracy" is no comedy. :blue:

I'm afraid the UK is in headlong pursuit of the USA in this respect. On the one hand parents are coming under tremendous pounding for not 'disciplining' their children, all of societies ills being laid at their door, and the same PC cretins (I would like to use stronger, much stronger, language!) are slamming into any parents who do 'discipline' their children! children are now being taught that 'playing the game is more important than winning'. I'm not at all sure of the point they're trying to make. As a kid at grammar school, we were forced to play Rugby. We always tried hard to lose by the biggest margin possible, just to relieve the boredom. Now, if we'd had some sort of incentive.........!

I have seen VERY little to belie this quotation in my 50 years on this planet. I do agree with the one woman on the video, her town *is* backwards and they *are* a bunch of hicks. I hope they fight this all the way to the supreme court - what a crock of ****.

I hate to repeat myself, but we humans are, after all, just some creatures that live on this planet. We have babies, so do all the other creatures here. We, however, are the only ones that, in our infinite wisdom, have stopped disciplining our children. Even the 2nd and 3rd smartest talking communicating creatures on the orb discipline their children. Number 1 is us, number 2 are Dolphins, number 3 are elephants, only then do we get to another primate, Chimpanzees. number 4. the rest of the apes and other primates are next and then on to felines, etc. Every one except us whack their kids around to get their attention. In the feline world, not paying attention is a baaad thing for babies, Lions for instance, whack their kittens around as a regular teaching tool, if their babies don't learn, there's always Hyenas.....and hyenas love to find a lost lion cub. Every creature on the planet for the most part, except us, has bad outcomes for not doing what their parents tell them to.

Back in .82, I met a full blood Navajo whilst travelling in the U.S. Southwest. he had his hair long and loose in the traditional manner. He told me he was a top welder on the oil pipelines and the hair length was no problem to him then. The authorities in the child's case really need to "get real"

Like Peter and others I'm stunned by the idea that the rule is the important thing and must be preserved at all costs of fairness and reason. Asking if the hair ban is appropriate gets people digging their heels to teach the lesson that you can't just change rules if you don't want to follow them. It is truly sad to see such little minds. From what I have seen on long hair boards where the issue comes up regularly there is often a hidden religious belief behind school restrictions on male hair in the United States. That may in part explain why the people don't think the rule should be reconsidered, their authority of choice in the matter has spoken. In public schools religious views are not supposed to be influencing policies though of course it does happen. Certainly there are other sources of prejudice against longhairs contributing to the rule too. Perhaps the kid is a dirty hippie druggie homeless musician. Not sure how having his hair cut would change all that but the school board must know best about these things.
