Skirts "work" for us? (skirted at work)

Post by Raakone »

Hi. Curious, any of you wear unbifurcated garments at work? I do. I'm a game tester. And also...when I arrive there, before actually starting work, I change into a sarong. And I change back before leaving (for several reasons). Anyways, it's great. Everyone trhere accepts it. I originally tried it just as a way to "liven things up" (there was a low morale problem), but since I could get away with it (and only one guy complained), I continue to wear sarongs there.

Someone once said that I'm not Asian or Polynesian. Well, I sometimes wear jeans and I'm not a cowboy! *laughs*

Kilts to work

Post by binx »

Mainly AKs and Sportkilts. I've worn denim skirts on weekends.

I've worn three different plaid kilts as well as a Utilikilt. Got the attention, of course, but never any problems. Its a closed office-enviroment, with 2 bosses in the same room, but like I said; never really an issue.

Im even making vice manager soon. I already have certain responsabilities and get to have a say in who does what, and when on certain parts of our business.

Sorry, if I sound like I'm trying to show off (which Im not), but Im trying to make a point that if you're "sensible" (for lack of a better word), you can get away with much and still 'make it'.
The furthest I've gone was regular black shirt, red kilt, black tights and black knee-high Underground boots (heavy duty). Nothing but complements.

Though in all fairness, there is this lady (she's apparently religious) that doesnt like me...cant please them all...:)

as i've mentioned before, i wear skirts to work everyday. most of my co-workers cannot remember the last time they saw me wearing pants. (the last time was sometime last summer, for an interview)

i work in a call center for telephone repair in st paul minnesota. my workplace is across the street from the city hall/courthouse. i've rcv'd TONS of strange looks (which usually gets the starer a "single-finger salute"), and occasionally a comment.

it's only clothing...

Why your "reply"?

Hi,

The last 4 years I worked at EMC (that big data storage company headquartered near Boston) in their Belgium development branch office. Never a problem! I usually wore a kilt or a long skirt. As 'Reject' said it above: if you keep it 'sensible', then it works.
In the company before, I went several times on a customer visit in kilt, never a problem, even on the contrary.
Now I'm self-employed and working at home, so I often don't even wear the skirt :-)

I also work as a game tester. Most of the time I will wear a Utilikilt to work. Other than some friendly ribbing from some of my co-workers it has been a non-event.

When you get to be Manager, you can put up an office sign, "No Bifurcated Garments in the office please" Reason being, tight and hot trousers make wearers grumpy and unfriendly, and no one needs that in a workplace!!! :shake:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Skirt Work

Post by skirttron »

I have worn a kilt to company social occasions, but not to the office. Much as I would like to wear my kilt more, it would only take one puritan in a higher position to make that a bad idea.
