Spousal support

Post by crfriend »

I had an interesting conversation with my dear wife this evening, mostly regarding the folks here at (aw, screw it) Tom's Cafe. She was wondering what folks' wives and "significant others'" opinions are considering skirted garments for their men.

Y'all know the line about "inquiring minds"....

Which wife?

Post by alexthebird »

My current (and future and final) wife is utterly supportive.

My first wife and I had a very bitter divorce and my lack of respect for "what people will say" was one of the issues on the table.

Complete support here

My S/O completely supports me and in the 7 years we've been together, she wore only trousers for the first 6 years, and since I've been public with my skirting she's engendered a renewed interest in wearing something she's not worn since she was in her teens, SKIRTS! She has sewn herself at least 15 tiered skirts in either A line or full style. She's buying more material off ebay now to make skirts with than even I am. She even talked me into buying something I haven't worn any of since I was in my pre-teens. Two for me and one for her. Her's is black and mine are one black and one red to wear under the tiered skirts to fluff them out so they don't fall between our legs or cause us to trip on the hems. I won't say exactly what these are, 'cause we're not supposed to talk about them here. Remember, I stopped wearing girls clothes when I was 12 because I couldn't continue to be home schooled. After that, the only time I got to wear them was on Halloween every year until I outgrew them. Yes, I have complete home support for my skirt wearing and at least the support of my friends and no problem with strangers anymore. :):cheer: :cheer:

although my wife is completely supportive of whatever i do, she is a very private person. thus, if i go out with her in a skirt or kilt her discomfort level increases as more people "pay attention" to us.

because of this, i rarely wear skirts when out tith her.

interestingly enough, her parents & siblings are so comfortable with me in a skirt or kilt that she is perfectly fine when i wear them to family gatherings.

go figure!

How would she feel, you think, if people paid adverse attention to her for wearing "mens wear" ie: Trousers? Personally I don't think, with very few exceptions there should be anything specifically labeled "Mens wear" or "Womens wear" CLOTHING is for covering the body to protect it from the weather and to maintain a level of modesty. As long as it does those 2 things what possible actual difference is there between a piece of cloth that surrounds both legs and a piece of cloth that surrounds one leg at a time??? The few things that are actually possibly womens wear are items having to do with their personal hygiene that NO men have to deal with. That does NOT include bras as there are about 15% of all men on the planet that deal with a condition called "Gynecomastia" every day and a percentage of those have such large protuberances they use bras for comfort. So ONLY a womans genital area has some things that a mans similar area does not have and a woman needs certain things to wear in that area that no man needs. And vice versa. ie: a woman never needs underpants with a pouch. I'm excluding true hermophrodites from this equation.

Humans have gotten wayyyyyyy to far from the beginnings of humans. Cloth is ONLY a device to warm and cover the body. IT has NO deep evil roots or purpose. geez :whiteflag

I wear a skirt because I want to. Because I LIKE it. And THAT is no one's business but my own. If anyone doesn't like it, tough S**T.

My wife has been completely cool with me wanting to get into kilts/skirts and has even gone looking for them in stores. She really doesn't care what I wear in general, so I'm happy.

My wife is happy to be out and about with me in a modern kilt or a sarong. We haven't reached 'real' skirt stage yet, except for in the car when I've taken her to work and gone back home.

We were at the Bristol Harbour Festival last Sunday, and she was complaining that I was getting more looks than she was :( That was just before some iok shouted "Look at that man in a skirt! Doesn't he look ..... " The last bit was lost as he went out of range. As usual he put a safe distance between us before drawing attention to himself. But at least he recognised me as a man :) I suppose he could have been saying "Doesn't he look great" but the tone of voice was wrong.

Prior to that a stall holder had complemented me on the kilt, and said it was nice that someone had made the effort - not sure what he meant, but took it as a complement anyway.

My wife supports me completely! But we both wish for the day when an UG will be just another choice in the closet and that it won’t draw any more attention than anything else. She doesn’t care for the straight line skirts and neither do I but a kilt or a skirt that looks similar to a kilt she likes a lot. I have a couple of long skirts that she likes. (I wear them in the winter) I also have a black men’s dress that I bought in the 80’s that she likes a lot. I’ll have to get a picture of that for you guys. It IS a genuine men’s dress. It didn’t come off the women’s rack. She was 100% behind MSM and got into the kilt thing so much that she wrote this article http://www.bravehearts.us/mugsvspants.htm for one of her college classes and wanted to contribute it to the Website. I’ve had two other partners that wouldn’t have approved of the skirt wearing at all. So, I guess I’m lucky this time. She does have her concerns though and doesn’t want me wearing these things at night in certain places because she’s afraid I will get targeted.

Count me as everything but the fashion tips since I don't even manage that in my own wardrobe. With thirteen other completely supportive partners out there so far I'd love to hear their side of the story and what they think about their guy.
