Yup. Tom'w. 11 am @ the Dravus ST Red Mill... Then, down to Utilikilts. Afterward, I have a few things I need to do, so I'll be splitting off to take care of those things.

I'll be in a black Volvo 2-door, btw...

I'll be in a green VW Jetta with california plates..

I hope that the place doesn't have too many hills (Seattle; laughs) as my car is getting brakes at 1300 (1pm)

The meet quite well and myself, nitrox and Kilted_John were there. Also, when we stopped by Utilikilts one of the staff noted that it was rare to see someone in there wearing unbifurcated garments outside of their kilts.

All in all, it was fun and a great experience meeting fellow Skirt Cafe members Nitrox and Kilted_John :)

I would tell people that it was a really great and very unusual experience going around a city where what I'm wearing has next to no impact on what people do.

I was expecting a california reaction which is usually staring or something, but I felt like "oh, you think you're special just because you're wearing a skirt?" and that was perfect!!

I'm enjoying your meet vicariously, thanks for posting about it guys. So what were some other reactions you got? Did anybody ask if you were tourists from another country? I guess kilts are nothing new to people in that area.

I can only speak from what I experienced, but the only reactions I got (outside of the comment from the Utilikilt guy mentioned above) were a couple of double takes. No snide comments. But for instance the person who took my order at the restaurant had no reaction whatsoever (this might be because there were three of us there, but I'm not sure). While Nitrox and John were wearing kilts I was the only one with an obvious skirt. However I didn't see any difference in the way they were recieved (but I can only speak for what I saw).

From what I read of the situation people for some strange reason were looking at me before John and Boca came in. Maybe it's my glasses I was wearing; I don't know. The meeting didn't seem anything out of the ordinary to the people at the restaurant nor the ones walking around outside as we left the place.

The Utilikilts place was the only place where we "might" have had a reaction on us but Boca was the only one. I didn't hear any other comments other than them obviously not knowing what a real kilt looks like (I wore my green Gap one) because they were saying "oooohh, he's in a real kilt" I'm thinking, "no I'm not!" this isn't even close to a "real" one. It's a pleated skirt made of plaid material in a wool blend and it has a flippin slip!!!

I should know what a kilt looks like as I have 2 of them and was raised with all that tradition and crap pumped into me (not saying tradition is bad.)

Really, the only reason why we would've had a 2nd look is because we were dressing in slightly out of the ordinary clothing, but the goths and punks with their uniforms get starred at much more frequent than we do by far.

Now maybe if we want a reaction we should dye our hair purple, green, orange, or bright red and wear something very flagrant and noticable.

Guess we'll have to show up in our traditional kilts next time... ;-) They've seen me wearing one before, since I used to sometimes wear one of my traditionals to work. In fact, the pic posted below happens to show me wearing my MacKenzie tartan while on the job...

When I visited Utilikilt last january in a skirt, the sales clerk said he had never seen a customer in a skirt in the store.

Now that's a nice turnabout compared to all those men that mortified to be thought of as wearing a skirt when they wear a kilt. Nitrox, you are cool. John and Boca too for meeting up actually. I'm glad you three had fun.
