Does it really matter? For the record I say "the side of the aisle". It's a term I got from Stevie in one of his posts, I'm sure.
That said I not seeing the problem. It is clearly labeled "the womens dept" in stores. I don't agree with all that but facts are facts, if you want to label something then "the womens or ladies" is how it's labeled.
If we don't want to use the ascribed label, don't mention it. Ie "I bought this". Most people know where it came from.

Why not just wear women’s pantyhose like I do? Why do we need a package that says “for men”?

In concept nothing, but I have had minor issues with a lot of them not being available in my height.

Because leggings do not normally have a foot. Then you have to resort to wearing socks, which I hate.
Tights come in all sorts of thicknesses for winter. The choice is huge and they make your legs look so good.

For Tights my favorite brand is SheerTex as they are almost indestructible. My other brand is We Love Colors which are custom died to any of dozens of colors however they will tear and run like most other brands.

Leggings are a whole different story.

Personally I never wear leggings.

4. Why wear leggings when they are boringly conventional and sold to men already?

Amazing what personal perspective can do to a message.

I’ll never wear leggings. They are just like tight trousers. There’s none of the wonderful feel and texture of tights, especially the sheer ones.

I wear leggings but I wear tights more often because I find tights are more interesting and pretty and they enhance my legs better and the feeling of sheer nylons on my legs while wearing a nice long skirt or dress is sublime.
