Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

The news of Carl has been weighing on me as well.
Quote from Coder on another thread.
As it has with me.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Carl in person (for a curry and a couple of pints of Guinness). He had one of those great distinct accents / voices (New England drawl springs to mind as a description, but I'm not sure if that's quite right) that should have been used in a film voice-over. Of course, whenever I read one of his posts on here it is always with his distinct way of talking in my mind. I shall certainly miss his presence on this forum.
Without wishing to sound over dramatic, this news has made me reevaluate my retirement plans. I fear that I'm currently neck-deep in that "just a few more years, then I'll retire" trap. As much as I'd wish to call time on my professional career right now, cold, hard economics prevent me from taking that course of action. But this sad news has galvanized me into making a plan that will allow me to retire in the next 5 years (at 60) and I've also resolved to get an RV this year rather than waiting for retirement.
I never met Carl in person or even on the phone, but having gone back and forth with him here was enough to feel like I met him, and even would dare call him a "Friend." Then I stepped away from the cafe for a bit, and came back a few weeks ago to references to his passing, just now finally finding the details here, and it suddenly feels real.
Rest in peace, old friend. Fair winds and following seas...
