Wrap Half Slip

I've started wearing kilts and sarongs because of the freedom without the inseam. But most underwear still has them so the issue persists.

I went and removed the inseam off a pair of boxers and it was perfect. That's also when I learned about half-slips.

The only issue that remains is modesty, especially when sitting. There was a thread about slips that got closed because it became too explicit so I'll try to keep things family friendly.

The thing about kilts and sarongs are that as wrap skirts, they have an extra cloth over the front which nicely drapes down when sitting. So I am thinking of sewing my own half-slips as a wrap. Basically instead of joining the fabric into a circle, I overlap the ends to create the aprons like a kilt.

Just want to ask if anyone has done this and can has any advice to give. Since it doesn't have to stretch, I'm thinking perhaps pure cotton or silk would be a good choice of fabric. Any thoughts?

I've converted the boxer shorts the same way. Much more comfortable that way. I also use half-slips, which cost almost nothing at the local charity thrift store. But if you are competent in sewing, your idea sounds worth trying. Part of the fun is experimenting.

Sounds like an interesting experiment. I use half-slips routinely, and do find those that are a bit fuller may contribute a bit more to modesty when in a short skirt, or the wrong breeze; but I do wonder if the amount of excess needed to drape amply for modesty would not also impede the skirts movement and cause bulking around the waist. No doubt your personal shape and skirt choices will be key factors; and the choice of a 'slick' fabric will likely help a lot. Looking forward to hearing of your experience. I've found half-slips, new, online are quite inexpensive and last a long time. Maybe buy an 3XL or some such, cut and overlap as you proposed?

I’ve got a number of half slip bought from charity shops which I am having great fun pairing with new skirts I’ve been buying from various locations. Not all half slips however seem to work and it is a question of matching the skirt to the slip. I don’t have any full slips and would like to get some,
Good excuse to buy more of each when the opportunity arises. I’m enjoying shopping on Vinted at the moment. They seem to have some great stuff.

I've bought non lace half slips from M&S before, some in nude and black, of various lengths, 19", 21", and 23" length. They work well. I do have lacy slips and other items but won't discuss specific lingerie items

Just so we are on the same page here, we are talking about wearing nothing else under the half-slip yes?

I just bought a length of silk satin that is 20" high and approximately 1.5 times my hip measurement for less than $3. All there is to do is to join the ends together, sew in an elastic and hem the edges. After it comes out of the wash, that is.
