Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I saw a young man in a black tired skirt in Chepstow yesterday, the first time I've ever seen any male here wearing one.
Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Saw plenty at York Pride both at the venue and on the march, men wearing skirts as men rather than trans/drag. Wonder if it's a thing in non-pride festivals such as Parklife, Glastonbury and much smaller ones etc?
I'll be out and about tonight skirted for sure! We're having a mini-heatwave, well, 23c (which is verging on a heatwave for us in the north of England!).

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
From my balcony a couple of days ago, I saw my first male not in pants. A young 20-30s man who was wearing what I think was a dress. He was just walking down the street toward the beach. It was like a loose shirtdress with sandals. My first sighting since being here for 10 months.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
A couple of weeks ago, in Glasgow. As I was heading out of Morrisons supermarket in Partick, a young man entered. He was dressed head to toe in black, including an ankle-length skirt. I was all in black too, except for a bright purple miniskirt.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Reading last week.
A guy in short skirt in Boots with a female friend. He was also wearing spagetti strap top, had long hair and painted nails. Definetly a guy but possibly trans.
I was deciding wether to stop and chat but because of the top, hair and nails thought I might be making assumptions and decided to move on.

It was a few months ago but I did see a guy in a denim wrap maxi skirt go through departures at Grenoble Airport in France! No one else seemed to bat an eyelid that he was wearing a skirt!
Re: Sightings "in the wild"
This is exactly how it should be, a perfectly normal clothing option.
Also in the past month I have seen three skirted men on my travels (other than the meet up), no interaction as I was in the car every time. Maybe its the heatwaves we keep getting at the moment that's helping others to give it a try.
Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I saw another guy on a flight yesterday in a utility kilt, again completely normal with no one noticing!
I sometimes wonder that us, as guys who wear skirts and kilts, are more likely to notice someone else wearing the same, than the rest of the general public are likely to notice!

I think Kilts pretty much get a pass, even though a lot of men don't wear them. Skirts on men get noticed, but are far less likely to draw negative reactions than most people realize.Hames wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 8:33 am I saw another guy on a flight yesterday in a utility kilt, again completely normal with no one noticing!

Kilts get more reactions, both positive and negative. Skirts get very few either way, while kilts get so many, that I sometimes find it tiring, even if the majority are generally positive.Modoc wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 11:02 amI think Kilts pretty much get a pass, even though a lot of men don't wear them. Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Saw a whole load of men in skirts or dresses at a music festival a few weeks ago: the Garden Party at Kelburn in Ayrshire. Also a few people in dinosaur costumes, it was that sort of event.
Then at Glasgow Pride last weekend there were a fair few. A good number of kilts (they don't really count in Scotland), a couple of dresses, drag queens, people who were probably trans. But only one person who looked clearly a man in a skirt. It was a multicoloured tiered thing, just right for a Scottish summer day with a decent chance of rain. Of course I was in a skirt too, what else do I wear?

The most important question is: were any of the dinosaur's wearing skirts?skirtyscot wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 9:22 pm Saw a whole load of men in skirts or dresses at a music festival a few weeks ago: the Garden Party at Kelburn in Ayrshire. Re: Sightings "in the wild"
And one I forgot to mention - how could I?
In IKEA, a group of two woman and a man, all wearing calf-length skirts. One was yellow, somewhat overshadowing the dark shades on the man and the other woman. I did wonder if there was any reason for the similar styles of skirt, though the three outfits were otherwise very different.

Spotted a man in a pencil skirt walking down the main street, no-one paying the slightest attention, too far away to speak - besides I've learnt my lesson!!
