Wearing a skirt with jeans
I have been looking the internet and got some inspiration of men wearing skirts with jeans or trousers (pants). Today I put on a pair of ripped black jeans with a tartan short skirt. I thought it looked good but my partner says I look better wearing a skirt with tights, pantyhose, or my bare legs. I have to say I agree with her but the skirt and jeans combination does look interesting. Has anyone worn jeans or trousers under a skirt.

Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
I haven't tried wearing a skirt over jeans, but I recall in the 2000's this was a popular look for young women/girls. If you want to go for that old skool look, I'd say go for it!
Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
Personal preference but I don’t really see the point of wearing a skirt over jeans. The main reason why I wear skirts is to experience the comfort that they provide instead of trousers
Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
I have a few dresses I will wear over jeans, I feel they are too short to wear without something covering my legs(they go to about half way too my knees, but as dresses they also lift the hem when lifting my arms).

Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
I tried this once with a wrap skirt from Tovewear and a pair of jeggings (but they were jeans fabric). At the end of the day I hated it - way too much fabric, and it felt off. I'm sure we often see women wear leggings and dresses or skirts, especially when those are shorter. While not pants, I think they are about as close as I'd get to wearing pants with a skirt.
All that being said - I have seen short short skirts with close-fitting jeans one people - both men and women - and the look usually ends up being a little bit "punk" and not too awful. I've also seen the other end of the spectrum - long flowy pants with a below knee flowy skirt - different colors but similar material. I don't exactly hate the look, but it isn't for me.

That’s the sort of style I like and base my outfits on are punk/goth girl and steampunk designs so it was no surprise I liked that look when I wore my short tartan skirt with ripped skinny jeans. However, skirts are best experienced wearing on their own with bare legs or tights.

Wearing a skirt with jeans
WHY
What's the point in this
What benefit does this give
IMHO, no benefit what so ever
I wear a skirted garment for the FREEDOM it gives,
not the constriction of "Jeans" or trousers.
The ONLY time I wear "exterior pants" is if I must
be on the ground, crawling around under something
or working on the car/truck.

Me as well. Particularly because a skirt eliminates that wedge of cloth in your crotch.

Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
I have been wearing leggings beneath a mini skirt or short sweater dress during this cold weather. Leggings are a lot more comfortable than jeans as they are of a softer, stretchy fabric. Stretch leggings do look better on the male anatomy with a skirt over them whereas I can not imagine any reason to wear a skirt over a pair of jeans.

I am with the "no point" view personally. However, I also see DrFishnets point of recreating a look that he saw on line and he wants to try out himself. This to be encouraged, since trying out different looks is great fun.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas, and we are enduring highs of 38°C/100°F. The most sensible garments that I wear are short dresses. I need all the air to cool myself in those hot conditions. To conserve energy I set my air conditioning to 27°C/80°F.

Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
From a purely functional standpoint - it makes no sense.
From a style/fashion/trend standpoint - why not? It isn't like a skirt absolutely must be worn one way. I know this board focuses more on the skirt as an alternative to pants - or as a preferred garment to be worn - but we rarely get into the "finer points" of style, trends, and so forth the way some fashion boards do.
Should we? I don't know - I feel like everyone here is trying to find their own style (or perhaps succeeding in) - and the fashion world offers little for us to partake of. But I often wonder if there would be some benefit in paying attention to what designers create, show off, and maybe even integrate some of their ideas into our outfits.

Re: Wearing a skirt with jeans
I don't think I can add much that hasn't already been said already.
I do recall maybe 15 to 20 years ago seeing some younger women wearing skirts over jeans so it's not a new thing. I think baggy jeans under skirts just looks uncomfortable and untidy...
Leggings or similar under a skirt, more practical and tidy, and given the cooler winter weather and quite common.
If the fashion helps skirts of whatever sort on men, then there's a positive.
