Skirted Style in the Philippines
I'm glad to see that, at least in the Philippines, young MIS are not mindlessly aping the over-hyped, over-priced stuff that graces(?) the runways of the western fashion capitals.

I particularly like the picture of the young man in the mainly yellow belted skirt.

It would be great to see it become a real trend.
The rest of us just have to keep doing our part.

That was wonderful news. I hope we can revive this movement once again.

Re: Skirted Style in the Philippines
In all the times I have travelled to the Philippines maybe 10 to 11 times (I have family in the Philippines as my wife is from there), I have never seen men wearing skirts, sarongs or other such garments, although it might be more common in Mindanao which is close to Malaysia, where men in sarongs is definitely more common.
The Philippines is generally a very conservative country, about 90% catholic (or at least claim to be), and the gender roles are definitely mode defined there than in most western countries. However, this does not mean that things can't change.
A big driver for change there will be what happens in south Korea, especially among the younger generations, as Korean culture has a substantial influence in the Philippines.
I may be heading up to the Philippines again within the next couple of months, not sure yet, if I do I'll be on the lookout to see if anything is changing.
One time at our place in metro Manila I was going to dispose of a bag of rubbish, got in the lift in T-shirt and sarong, there was some probably high school aged girls in the lift also on their way down and they seemed to be a bit giggly when I stepped in, and their conversation abruptly stopped and they never said anything at least not until I got out on the level where the bins are.
