Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. I shop a lot for skirts and dresses in my local Matalan and bought a lovely black sleeveless Tiered Maxi Dress which almost has a gothic look about it which I like. It is very long and goes down to my ankles and looks great with Doc Marten boots.

Nice dress. Are you layering it or is this something for the summer?
The dress is actually quite thick and warm to wear but I’m going to layer it with my long sleeved t-shirt mini dress and waistcoat and wear black fishnet tights over red tights and Doc Martens.
My name is Artie. I’m a guy in a skirt and a hobbiest musician and artist.

That sounds like a gorgeous dress, DrFishnets! A black tiered maxi can be so versatile. It's great that you've already found a look you love with the Doc Martens - that definitely leans into the gothic vibe. Have you thought about trying it with any other styles? A belt could change the silhouette, or maybe a pop of colour with a scarf or cardigan? I bet it would also look amazing dressed up with some heels and jewelry. Enjoy your new dress!

I would like to wear a belt but I’m overweight and usually wear a top untucked or a t-shirt mini dress on top. I wear a purple scarf and dark burgundy red waistcoat amd a long black trench coat. I am experimenting with other styles through drawings and designs I’m doing on my iPad.
