Hello From NY
Hi everyone. One of the things I have enjoyed about reading the introductions is the breadth of reasons that men wear skirts. I got here by way of genderless style based on the idea that clothes do not have gender, people do. As such, I aim for outfits that meet a two-fold acid test: (1) if someone changed into them from conventionally masculine clothing they would look more feminine and (2) if someone changed into them from conventionally feminine clothing they would look more masculine. However, I have also been won over by the comfort and practicality of skirts. I cannot imagine facing another heat wave without them. I wear them year round, often over leggings or pants in the cold of winter. it seems to me that fashion trends are meant to last decades and not centuries. Men around the North Atlantic have given up skirts for long enough. I'm happy to be part of the vanguard bringing skirts back into menswear.
This site is a great resource. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into maintaining it.

Welcome to the cafe. Your test of an outfit is interesting. I don’t think some of my efforts would pass your test.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Not alone with a dream, Just a want to be free, With a need to belong,
I am a skirtsman
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
I am a skirtsman

Welcome, Keith. You didn't mention where in NY you were, but I went to college in Troy on the Hudson River. Beautiful state!
I have a somewhat similar clothing philosophy, but get the masculine part from my full beard, not necessarily my clothing every time.

Welcome Keith,
Always nice to welcome more northern skirters. I am in Ontario, Ottawa Valley. I wear my skirts all year too. When it gets cold I don knee high socks.

I attended what was then called SUNY Buffalo for undergrad, then the CUNY Graduate Center brought me to the other end of the state. I am also bearded, have been since college, but trimmed short. I also factor that into finding the balance between M & F in how I dress.
