tough, it's virtually impossible for someone to completely authenticate stuff by merely looking on the internet, I'm not a police detective. the premise was someone had never heard of it happening, well I've heard of it. Doesn't mean I can prove all of it.

An interesting meta-question here would be, "How it is possible for a supposedly mentally healthy person to hate so vehemently?" Or have we, as a culture, abandoned the notion of mental health?

I've got some strong feelings and beliefs on things, but those nowhere approach the visceral notion of hate that all too many folks exhibit.

Sadly, it seems, by being a human is all it really takes.
We know that "hate" has been used to justify all manner of heinous acts of cruelty, murder and mass slaughter, that's proven fact.
We don't need to add a layer of corroborative requirements to lend credence in this particular case.
Am I, a man in a skirt likely to be attacked for it?
In the wrong situation, at the worst possible time, probably, so I try to ensure not to put myself in that position.
That's the relevance of this thread to me as I see it.

I suppose I would class myself as socially conservative, but I don't hate anyone - including trans people. Hatred is an emotion - the antithesis of reason and leads to destructive thoughts and behaviour - so it is something to resist. I view trans people like everybody else. Live your best life. That doesn't mean I am prepared to give you everything you demand, nor that I am prepared to see you change society in such a way that I believe is harmful to our values and culture or to the safety and dignity of others, but I make no judgment of anyone who wishes to be regarded as the opposite sex. It's just a fact of life.

Who are the haters? The list below is preceeded by 'some':
1. Children hate anyone who is different eg Brianna Ghey.
2. People feel insulted when somebody pretends to be something they already are.
3. People hate trans people because they turn the culture of gender binary on it's head. This is a big one. People are convinced you are m/f with nothing in-between.
4. People think trans people are dangerous predators.

It will take time for people to settle down now that it's out and in the mainstream. The discussion in society is taking unexpected turns and trans people / trannies / crossdressers are taking the brunt of the hatred. There is no going back and the new (they were always there) members of society will eventually be accepted.

The fearmongering is as already noted to cause division, probably on a large part fueled by Putins troll factories and his army of helpful idiots to sow dissent and fracture in the West. Divide and conquer.

In Europe the fearmongering is mostly aimed at immigrants, but America is mostly immigrants so I guess is harder to pull off there. Its just what our German man with a funny mustasch in the 30's did. Find a minority and blame them for everything.

FranTastic is onto something here -- and that's that this is not a "new' situation at all -- it's been being very deliberately stirred up and stoked for years. Much of this started in 1980 -- yes, that long ago -- when the neo-cons rose to and ultimately took complete power. Of note is that is technically incorrect to call these types "conservatives". More properly, they're reactionaries, and should be called out as such, and they form the sharp edge of the wedge that's being driven into society by the oligarchs. Seb made a nice linkage, and as I read the modern "game plan", I could not help but remark, "The last time I read this was in the native German!" primarily out of disgust for what's become of things. It's the classic tactic of "Divide And Conquer" that's been around for centuries -- and it's the prime vehicle by which republics fail.

Sadly, it's too late to stop it now, so all we can do is watch the place burn to the ground.
