Skirt with men's size on label.
Skirt with men's size on label.
On a recent outing while skirted, I noticed that my denim skirt was size 14/32. I wear a size 14 skirt and size 32 or 34 pants. Has anyone else ever noticed men's sizes in their skirts? I haven't had a chance yet, but I plan to check all my other skirts for men's size on the labels.

Denim stuff is usually sold by waist size, isn't it? That's probably why.

That would be a brilliant opportunity to email the manufacturers or distributors, point out that men's sizes are shown, and ask them if these are really unisex (because you would buy them and you know some other men who would buy them). This wakes them up to the fact that they could up to double their sales potential if they market these to men as well as women.

I really don't know why manufacturers don't just go for measurements rather than sizes. Generally I am AU10, US6, EU38, UK10, Mex30, India28, however there are great differeces between Brands. Two almost identical skirts, a Cotton On size AU8 and a Supre size AU12 is the same fit on me.
Brands are not even consistent within their own range. If buying on line I often ask for measurements, in meatspace I carry a tape.
The 14/32 would equate to US14 and 32" waist. I haven't noticed waist sizes on my denim skirts.
Imagine the problem if car tyre sizes varied so much, let alone our personal spare tyres.

Re: Skirt with men's size on label.
Once upon a time there was the RULE OF 20 - - -
I.E. take 20 away from the size and voila the result was the size number of the waist measured clothing.
Waist of 34 - 20 = 14
Of course rules like laws were made to be ignored voided and subject to whim adjustments of the user/wearer
The inch/centimeter tape measures have been around quite awhile - simply why can't we use them consistently ?
One reason would be it is not fashionable - I would never be caught dead in size 14 - make mine a perfect 10 with adjustment
Such vanity !
Bottoms are one thing - tops (bust/chest) are again a whole nother measurement gaff !
So where do you really really draw the line ?

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

I recently saw a skirt on a well known auction site described as a trendy fashion for men and women, of course I had to buy it with that write up

Womens Vanity
Thats why womens clothing is sold in Sizes not by actual size. Every manufacturer has a different size chart.
Woman have Fashion, Men have a Uniform.
A skirt wearer since 2004 and a full time skirt wearer since 2020.

Re: Skirt with men's size on label.
Exactly. Quoted sizes are just a guide and you need to experiment with different brands to find out what actually fits in practice. Some retailers publish a detailed size guide for each garment while others have a generic guide for garment types, which you can refer to in order to get the actual measurements.
You still have to try the item on to ensure it fits properly.

Why else would a size "0" even exist.
