Torn between the philosophical leanings of the proprietors (I get the feeling they'd take issue with me wearing their items) and their inventory (the longer lengths I prefer).

No experience, but a thought.
You aren't being disrespectful, the concept of modesty can apply just as much to men in skirts as women.
If this company disagrees, they don't need to take your cash, their loss.
They are a business, motivated by profit, try them and if the vibe is bad, go elsewhere.

I've bought from them, their clothes are nice and measurements pretty accurate. I don't see anything wrong with ordering from them.
One quick thing I'd like to point out. There are a lot of these "modest" clothing stores on the internet, and they all carry the same clothes or clothes which look similar. They are not super high-quality, despite what the price may indicate. They are better than Shein quality, though. Be sure to find a discount code. I suspect they resell brands that are imported from China. I think one time I was trying to track down a skirt and found it on three of these sellers, and Amazon. However, the styles are a bit unique because they aren't your run of the mill j crew/free people/etc...
