I wore my denim kilt to church twice today, and received interested compliments both times.

(Unfortunately, I don't think the suppliers - Union Kilts - are still in business...)

As a wink to our sports enthusiast, I wore it with football socks in the light blue colours of Manchester City (or as I teasingly referred to it, Abu Dhabi City FC).

I have bought three denim shortalls in the past year: one from Forever 21,
one from Old Navy, one direct from Levi Strauss. All new, not used.
I was just giving a partial Cross section on what I wear

I wear denim skirts, jeans, shortalls, and shorts.

They are all brands I really like. Specifically the pockets and the quality of the items.
I have a lot of skirts where I only have one, so I can't speak of a commonality. If I'm at a resale shop those brands are always ones I am looking for.

In short shortalls rock.

If I ranked clothing on what I like, comfort.
Shortalls are a close second to skirts.

Ranked
Skirts,
Shortalls
Shorts
Skorts
Bib overalls
Sweat pants
Jeans and trousers

My wife is hung up on me wearing skirts. But tolerates the shortalls, shorts, and jeans.

SO most most of the spring summer fall you will find me in shortalls. And in the winter oftentimes in bib cover alls.

I recommend anyone trying Short alls or cover alls to buy a size or two larger than your normal size

Example I'm generally a size 20 in skirts and jeans.
My shortalls are all 22s or 24s. I prefer them loose, it sorta feels like wearing a denim dress. ( I have one of those too)

Wear what Is comfortable to you.

At this moment I'm in blue jeans.

This morning I started the day in black twill shorts at church.
I had packed a pair of denim shortalls, and a pair of jeans.
As I knew we had a few after church out door work projects.
The morning was beautiful, by afternoon it was raining and temps were dropping. I opted for the jeans because of the. Chill in the air.

In just over a year I find myself owning at least 5 more pairs of short alls.

I find myself being the only male in my Area in shortalls.
My family went to the local county fair today. While I can't possibly view every passersby at the fair. Temps in the mid 80s f . Most men and women were in shorts. I didn't see a single man in a skirt, kilt, or short alls. Perhaps 4 to 5 percent of women and girls were in skirts and dresses.
I saw at least 8 women in Shortalls.

The numbers of men and women in pants and trousers in the heat and humidity is just mind boggling.
And even the dredded yoga pants were in my sampling. Of passersby.

I don't know how people can wear anything long legged in this heat.

One observation to note. I've noticed that masculinity is so fragile that men generally don't wear anything things that contains skirt, bib, and apron even in the name. How did masculinity get so fragile? But femininity is so rock solid?

You might see the same woman in a Disney princess t shirt and then the following day see her wearing a marvel avengers shirt. But you will never see a man wearing a Disney princess shirt.

A woman could probably get away with wearing a black plastic trash bag. As edgy, odd fashion choice. A man would have his sanity questioned.

Women can like male or female singers.
But if a guy likes a female singer, his motives are questioned.

That is *exactly* the comparison I made when first questioning fashion rigidity in the early 1980s.

It's odd, though: putting up a poster of Debbie Harry has a completely different vibe from putting up a poster of Barbra Streisand.

For your question about trousers wearing by heat time. In case of sunburn or suspicion of potential sunburn, I quickly go back to clothes that covers the more skin I can. Even if it means that I'm going to suffocate with that heat.
Okay, this may explain a tiny fraction of them... but already a few ones :-D

Awww Gee, I am so disappointed.
In the UK there are Trades Descriptions Regulations which take a very dim view of misleading advertising.

Yeah I guess I could see that, trousers as sun protection.

I have a few ankle length skirts I would want to try to wear for sun protection. Before trying the trousers.
I discovered a leak in our roof, so at some point in the near future I'll be scaling the roof in trousers. Bare knees have no business on a asphalt shingle roof.

Though I live in Costa Rica, and most people think it is all a tropical paradise of endless beaches; much is not -- and our mountain top home is near the continental divide, about 1400 meters, on the edge of the cloud forest --so we get an ample supply of rain, mist, cloud, and cool -- never truly cold, as it seldom gets below 15C, but enough so that I have an abundance of long, light weight skirts for warmth; and when the sun is out-- UV protection too. As for roofs; knee pads work with skirts as well as pants. You can usually avoid changing to pants with a dash of forethought/planning.

I get all my skirts and kilts from Amazon. Never had to return anything due to incorrect sizing. Here are pictures of three lengths of denim skirts I wear; previously posted elsewhere on this site. For me it's knee length or longer. Denim is quite a manly fabric and that's why I wear it. However it can feel a bit rough against the knees and legs so I always wear a slip or petticoat underneath for comfort; also saves having to wash skirts so often.

Some more mini skirts from Shein. Quite short this time at 10.5" with belt loops and shallow pockets to suit my spending ability. I have ordered 3 different shades of blue wash ........... ready for next summer. I landed 2 of them for $8.52 each with free postage.

I rather like the third one, full length with a central pleat. The length gets around awkward sock-based decisions!

Not being a 'below the knee' person, I don't order my skirts that long. Today I took delivery of my latest part-pleated purchased creation: a Topshop/Asos Denim knee-length skirt in Raw Grey.
This is made from the toughest stiffest denim which should hold its shape and pleats indefinitely, is EU size 44/UK16 which is precisely waist 34"/86.4MM. Just 22" to the 'hem' which on me falls to the top of the knee, has big belt loops, pockets and front zip opening, flat front and deep partly stitched down knife pleats at the side and rear, fits the waist like jeans, but couldn't be more different in feel, moves well while walking and pic(s) to follow.....when our borrowed Sun next makes a fleeting appearance.

On this island we have natural Sun-block....90% cloud coverage! So much for 'Summer' 2024.
