Alternate names for a men's skirt - but make it corny/awful

Post by Coder »

Too often the group here "argues" over the right name for this garment when it is sold to men. I just posted a product being sold branded as "pleated skirt shorts". While the description is... accurate it's disingenuous because they are essentially selling a skort. It's also a bit funny, but not hilarious...

Let's say in 20 years male skirts are sold everywhere. What's the worst-possible name that marketers could pick? Think "murse", "mantyhose", etc...

"Murt" would be at the top of my list. "Manskirt" a close second.

Banana-brella ("banana + umbrella", riffing on the "banana hammock") :kiltdance:

Banana-brella is brilliant

Like Mirt but Smirt might be cornier.

Careful, that might stick. I can see it already. The skirt that is a kilt, is a kilt and the mens skirts that aren’t the kilt are skilts…

A very short one could be called a maniskirt or simply a curt.

Skilt isn't terrible, I must say, but it may imply pleating.

Since the usual bifurcated garment is a PAIR of "trousers", surely a garment with a single opening for both legs is a single "trouser", or for clarity, a "monotrouser".

I'd suggest one-legged pant, but that's already been used.

What's wrong with the simple term "skirt"?

I’m not suggesting we change the name - I’m just asking what are some of the worst/corny alternatives one could come up with. It was in reaction to a men’s skort being sold as “pleated skirt shorts”. While not the worst name I feel like we could do “better” at the worst name game :D

Hmm, skilt…. Does kinda merge the acceptable kilt with the skirt word and as dumb as that is….

Pleated would be a kilt. Non pleated is a skilt.

Oof.

Hahahaha
