No, UA, you posted two pictures that show what a politically bigoted person you really are. The photos have nothing to do with Coronavirus or anything else on this site. You have been called out before on your extreme Republican stance and I don't want any more of it. This is one case where politics should not be a part of this site. Democratic members of this site don't post similar photos - they have more sense and decorum. I post this as I have no leanings to either party, but the extreme views only seem to come from one side and that is not debate - that is propaganda. Please remove the photos or you may lose one more member of this cafe.

In my region I have to endure a steady diet of far right wing extremist propaganda coming from all sides.

My response to it is about the same as my response here [regarding the images]. I just nod my head, grin, and let it go in one ear and out the other.

At any rate, I too have my rants.

My only gripe is that so many Republicans practically worship their candidates of choice. One bit of respect I have for left leaning people is they will call out their own party.

We found out through Bidens handling of Afghanistan that the so called "left wing media" will hold a Democrat accountable. Frankly you won't find that in "right wing media" when it comes to Republiicans, they can do no wrong..!

Well I take that back, the only thing Republicans will be taken to task for from their own party is not kneeling before the throne of Donald Trump, as we've seen with Liz Cheney.

At any rate, I don't know why the right is so upset with Biden and the Democratic party. They haven't really done anything on the "leftist agenda". That infrastructure bill is slowly getting whittled down to nothing, we still don't have single payer health care and never will, not a single industry has been brought under socialist control.

What's the problem? Trump was correct, they are "do nothing Democrats". All they do is run that mouth.

At 70 years of age, I'm tired of being criticized for having an opinion.
You don't have to agree with it nor be sarcastic with your "response".
We've had 4 years of Obama and I'm glad that's over.

You're supposed to be a Moderater that sets rules in place when it comes to the forums so I have a question.

Why is it that if other people were to post the two pictures below the threads would get locked because of the attacking of another political party however because you're a Moderater it stands?

It's OK to have an opinion however I don't think just because you're a Moderater you should abuse your privileges and go against rules you try to enforce here at the Cafe. I mean well in my statement please Lead By Example.

I do think there has been a bit too much thread drift.
Those interested in pursuing debate on political and economic disciplines, please start a new topic and try and keep to a sensible, informed and respectful manner.
That way, those who are not interested can avoid it.

Must be nice...

As I still have to do a song and dance to make living, I am basically required to live by the phrase "when in Rome, do as the Romans do".

Someday I'll be retired (hopefully) and I can let my tongue run wild and free too...

On my 65th birthday I plan to publish a book of everything I wanted to say, but was forbidden to during my working years.

I actually think the opposite, this thread has been a magnet for politics and whatever the US uses instead of politics. As long as all this toxic political commentary is concentrated in this thread, just leave this thread to attract the politics, a bit like fly-paper but less nice! and enjoy the rest of the cafe!

As I see it from a US domestic perspective is that all too many people believe what they're being fed by their own political parties with the fervour of religious zealots. This renders rational and decent conversation impossible -- or at least very difficult. This is, of course, a direct result of the politically-driven policy of strict division to keep the electorate's attention away from the really important issues that would have a negative effect on the members of the Forbes 500 list.

The whole policy of "divide the population and you have complete control" was used to great effect in 1930s Germany -- and we see what the end result of that was. When I first started examining what's been going on in the United States a few years ago I first got curious, and that curiosity quickly turned to horror when I realised that I'd read the play-book before, save that it was in German. Talk about a "blood running cold" moment!

We need to do better to keep the heat turned down on this, because if we keep the flames on high then we're just handing the Forbes 500 list their victory -- and destroying our civilisation in the process.

As hopefully my last comment on this, one of my main objections to the photos is that they are not political statements, they are personal attacks on Obama and Biden. I don't really know but I'm making an educated guess without the use of goggle, from UA's attacks that Obama is a Democrat. UA being a Moderator is no longer worthy of that status, too much power to abuse. Resign your position UA. And remove the photos, I will be watching or vacating this site which has given me so much support and made some friends. If your political sewage is more important to you then I guess I know where my place is and it's not here. :(

And that's the worst thing of all about the fervour and zeal -- it wounds -- needlessly and meaninglessly.

Regardless of what Uncle AL decides to do, I do hope you will reconsider and stick around. I greatly enjoy your contributions to the site. A man of reason and level headed, never taking sides, and always with a gentlemanly vocabulary. I wish I had your patience.

We would be left with a great deficit should your choose to depart.

Hola Dennis & all here: I do not like flavor or some of the posts from various members, and personal attacks are not productive -- but sadly as Moon & Carl have noted, this vitriolic tone has invaded our public and private venues, and it seems our only options are to bury our heads in the sand like hermits crabs, or let it wash over us and hope somewhere along the way we can make more meaningful connections. Beating the crap out of people with words or bats has never changed minds, it only hardens the barriers.

Others here have at times pulled out the 'heavy' card and threatened to withdraw unless there was some change over which they had or have little control -- I expect we have all had our moments of frustration that way, often in the "off topic" section -- but despite my own ire at times with some posts, I would be denying myself a mostly helpful and fun place to share ideas, on and off topic, by their withdrawal, or mine -- I hope you stick around, as well as a couple of the folks who do ruffle my feathers from time to time -- we won't learn or grow peace or sartorial freedom for men by isolation.

Sinned, btw -- my long post actually spoke directly to your concerns and the following ones about the problems of definitions of "so-called" socialism in the US, and elsewhere; and said let's not haggle over the technical accuracy of some (or many) of the items on the list -- the point was that indeed there is misconception over the term and it is used in a derogatory and unhelpful way in US political dialog rather than recognizing the realities in our societies.

Carl, Moon, fg, thank you for your comments. UA at times makes me so angry with his right wing Trump hero worship. Over her it's ok to attack the POLICIES of a party or person but it's considered really bad form to attack the person themselves. So UA is bottom of my list at the moment, not that he probably cares. But from now I will call out any instances of such extreme Right ( and Left ) wing tripe. I do say extreme and I mean extreme. We all have viewpoints that are off centre but extremes should be kept off this site and kept to oneself. I don't care if they are held by a moderator - he should know better.

Moon, thank you for your kind words. I have never thought of myself in those terms - I'm just me. Grammar and spelling have always been important - my secondary school was a Grammar School, after all.

fg, I will read your post. It may take me some time over multiple sessions but I will read it before I comment.
