Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.
Disregard that the Team Kilt appears in the womens kilt section
A custom one can be made for you - SportKilt did it for me !
Also there are the eBay foreign sellers making them too
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Yes, Tom has that magnificent "Kilt on Fire" which is stellar as well as a couple more!
And congratulations to Emma on winning the US Open Final.
Indeed, even if she did have the left side of her hem tucked up into the shorts. (I asked the barkeep at my local to, "If ever I do that, please find something stout and beat me with it." There was laughter all 'round.)

I do tend to find the ones without the shorts, and wear what I want under them. I also get the non-pleated variety normally. Bit of an A-line in modern athletic fabrics and a short length, and you can move almost like you have nothing on.
the tennis skorts - and running skorts/skirts all have a brief in them which makes so much sense
they're lightweight and neat to wear.
I run in asics running skirts/tops and its much nicer having my legs free.
Also the skort makes sense cause they are very short and unless you own a lot of black lingerie/undies then you're going to show a bit without the practicality of a built in short.
Yes, contrasting pleats add a bit of life to a skirt when there is movement such as with sports. They are usually expensive because of the extra stitching. When I quizzed my sister, who taught fashion design at secondary school, on how I could make such a skirt she suggested starting with a broad striped patterned material to get that effect with less stitching using the stripes as a guide for the pleating. A pity poor Beachlion is no longer with us as I am sure he would have knocked one up.
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.

Realistically, its got me thinking about splurging on one of the kilts that has this sort of design - a contrasting color within the pleats.
Do give that a try, you will enjoy it I am sure. I have a couple and love them.
I can heartily recommend the Celtic Countries online store for these https://celticcountries.com/shop/
especially their women's hybrid kilt, the utility pockets are so practical https://celticcountries.com/shop/kilts/ ... -skirt.htm
They will make these in any size and length you want and with any tartan by special order, and they are very helpful. They take a few weeks to arrive because each is a custom order, but I was delighted by the result. Well worth the wait. I especially like the Galician Blue tartan.
