75" Aussie,

At 27 deg S you are only 3.5 deg. S of tropical. Frost certainly wouldn't be an issue with you. Up here the round-Earthers bent the planet so that in Mid- Winter our Sun only gets up to max. 14-odd deg. above the misty horizon. Brrrrh !
Were it not for the Gulf Stream/ North Atlantic Drift we'd be frozen for much of the year, but the whole of Western Europe benefits enormously from that warm current.

Just yesterday at Equinox we officially handed that big yellow ball back to you Antipodeans to play with for the next 6 months......

Odd, the equinox hasn't occurred yet here; not until 8:30 a.m. this morning, two hours from now.

Waiting for the referee to blow his whistle, eh Jim, so the Antipodeans can run with that big yellow ball. I didn't know precisely when, but it's usually round the 21st-22nd September.

We're still waiting for that big yellow ball to play with. It's been a tad cloudy here the last few days. Not good for charging my batteries.....

I tend to think of transitional days, betwixt/between true seasons. So in Seattle this year the last true summer day was Sept. 11th, while the first true day of autumn is today, Sept. 23.

Finally some cool weather in southern Oregon, where unfortunately
wildfires have wiped out some of my friends' homes and livelihood.
I visited the farmers' and growers' market in Medford and got
compliments on my Aztec patterned leggings (from Walmart) and
my blue Duckfeet Himmerlands. As for the latter, one young lady selling
fruits and vegetables wanted to know every detail about the shoes
and where she could buy them. It is extremely rare that anybody
indicates interest or curiosity about what I'm wearing, let alone
offer a compliment.

Hola Bertino;
Surprise...another skirt wearing chap in the Rogue Valley. I met only about 4 other guys when we lived in the valley that wore skirts routinely -- mostly at home; but a couple out and about, and they are still there. We too have friends who have lost their homes (see thread on Wildfires in Oregon), and are greatly saddened but do recall with pleasure the Farmer's Market and we still use our Ashland Co-op food bag! I can't endorse Walmart -- was happy when the one in Talent became a motorcycle factory -- and I think that may have succumbed to the fire? Anyway, just a 'hello' and perhaps we will cross paths on one of our now infrequent visits to the valley. Or, come visit Monteverde -- we have a couple of others who have made the step up from Talent & Ashland -- still working on Medford! :P

Sat. September 26th 2020. Where's our Global warming gone to? To our dismay the forecasters got it right and we got a visit about a whole month early from Jack Frost.
Normally he arrives first at the end of October to kill all the remining flowers, but this year we woke up yesterday morning to more than three deg. Centipede of frost. Fortunately the w'end was sunny and the daytime temps recovered, but early on it was Winter cold for the dog-walking. Hat & gloves &c.
We're in a sort of lockdown, so we went nowhere. It was a glorious evening here and we had a bonfire & sausage sizzle down by our little lake with music (guitar & whistle). Forecasters say it'll be mild again tonight.

We succumbed! It was really cold yesterday so I was wearing thickish tights and I switched the ch on.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Is your thermometer upside down there Kirbstone? Surely red = warm ;-) Well, still bare leg weather in Hampshire. Sunday I went round to a friend's and we sunned ourselves on her roof terrace. It's just the mornings that are a bit cool, I think it hit 7C a few days ago, but the days have been lovely, around 16 - 19C and with full sun it feels hotter.
