Here are two more.

The trouble with Tumblr is that there is almost no
way to trace a photo back to its original source.
If you see a skirt or a dress that you might like to
try on, it would be nice to find out who makes it
or who sells it.

I've always liked Endgenderclothes's site, I'm a great believer in the more you see something, the more 'normal' it becomes (even though I'm only slowly gathering the courage to go out and about in my skirts  )

Here's a couple more Tumblr sites dedicated to normalizing guys wearing skirts/dresses:

https://lovelymeninskirts.tumblr.com/

https://skirtrevolution.tumblr.com/

https://themeninskirtsblog-blog1.tumblr.com/

https://menwearingskirts-blog.tumblr.com/

https://fuckyeahguysindresses.tumblr.com/

https://femininemalefashion.tumblr.com/

https://skirtedmanworld.tumblr.com/

https://somemeninskirts.tumblr.com/

https://bossdressing.tumblr.com/

https://guysindresses.tumblr.com/

https://niceskirtbro.tumblr.com/

There are obviously many more sites out there but I was afraid I was starting to look like an obsessive, lol.

Who knows you may even see pictures of yourself on some of these sites :D

Well... the combination of my thinning hair and Easter egg pot belly pretty much puts all of those looks out of reach for me.

I now know how "those girls" [0] feel...

[0] The ones without the supermodel body... yes I guess guys can be fat shamed too... I know this guy is feeling it...

Nevertheless... pass me that bag of potato chips...

So when men in skirts reaches the point when they are putting chubby guys dressed in skirts and dresses on the cover of magazines and Tumblr blogs and still saying we're beautiful... then we shall know...

... we have arrived!

Generally speaking, it's a waste of time wishing you were something you aren't. About all that'll do is make you feel badly about yourself, generally bring you down, and potentially enrich schemers around you who might profit from your plight. If you're medically healthy, then cherish that.

Dammit, I wish that the culture of "youth" and "thin" would give way to a culture that embraces who we are, rather than what we are. We're young only for a brief time, and most of us are not particularly adept as people during that time -- hence the quip of, "Youth is wasted on the young!" It's also worth recalling the "second part" of the "Beauty is but skin deep" meme: "Ugly goes right to the bone."

Embrace the beauty that is you, not some prescription from a "fashion mag" somewhere.
Nevertheless... pass me that bag of potato chips...
Nuts. Mine's mostly empty. Scrids anyone?

That's true, and I'm generally satisfied with my own body... I just sometimes wish I could rock some of those outfits the way those kids do...

It just makes me wish I was more open minded in my youth...

Such is the inevitable penalty of time. The only cure for that is to work with what you've got now.

There's the biggest pitfall of all. When we're young, we're expending every last iota of energy and creativity to gain acceptance and credibility amongst our seniors who we hope, someday, will be our peers. And by the time that comes, we have lost our youth -- which is not, by any means, a bad thing. With time comes wisdom, and that becomes the guideposts; it allows us to bend the "rules" as we see fit where before we were held to those rules as if in chains. We really do get better with age; occasionally more bitter, yes, but in general better. At least until the systems start to fail -- which is why it's important to try to start imparting some of our knowledge to the younger set before we, ourselves, go senile and kick off this miserable rock.

For instance, in my early 20s when I started off my career, I never would have dreampt of wearing a skirt to the office or in front of customers. It just wasn't done for a guy to wear one, Forty years hence, I wear skirts more often than I wear trousers. Why? Because I no longer need to prove my worth in society for the simple reason that I've been doing it consistently for so long -- and my worth to society is not now diminished because I put both legs down one tube instead of two.

Oh... but to go back to those years... with hindsight eh?

Generally I'm pleased with my situation now... of course I was also pleased with my situation then.

I'm aware that 20 years from now I'll look back on where I am at today and yearn for the "youth" of being 39 years old again!

Sometimes I look at photos like the one below from 2002... and marvel at what I didn't realize laid ahead of me. I had just met Jenn, we hadn't got Amber back yet. I hadn't learned a trade at this time, and was doing the best I could trying to make it work in whatever warehouse or stocking work I could find.

The world trade center had just fallen about six months ago, I was still mailing in my taxes the old fashioned way, a decent satellite TV plan was $30 per month, I didn't have a cell phone.. History Channel actually covered history. Calling Roanoke (next County over) was 25 cents per minute on the landline... (now you can call anywhere for a flat rate) My modem blazed away at 36.6 kbps... up to 48 if the weather was right and there hadn't been much rain over the last few days... Dad was still funny, and a positive role model (back before he went deep red political). My step father was still alive.

... Facebook didn't exist yet... oh my the world prior to Facebook... stand and awe at its wonder...

Riding along the blue ridge parkway at 2am with Jenn riding shotgun, listening to 104.9 Magic FM out of Roanoke, pulling off on the overlooks and watching the cities and country sides gristle with midnight life....

*long inhale and exhale... leans back in chair...*

Damn I'm grateful to live the life I've had.... here's to another score!

I've often meant to go and see if I can find some pics of me cause I remember seeing some perhaps 5-6 years ago of me wearing a floral mini dress and statement heels at a restaurant & bar after the races. Someone must have taken them and put them on the web.... the pics in that busy context were quite good...always better in a real life situation.

they're out there somewhere....

cheers

But Tumblr, like Instagram can make you feel a little out of place. I even threw away some of my tighter items as I want to improve my look too :blue:

Hopefully the next generation is a little more open to fashion freedom, it is comforting seeing so many out there in public, even if under their genderfluid umbrella
