Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.
Not something I'd wear myself but guys fashion is going that way, up where I live I've seen lads out and about in groups with girls and wearing skin tight running legging with baggy tops and from a distance (even a short distance) it looks like they have a dress and dark tights on
When life gives you lemons, slice them and put them into your G&T!
A lot has changed since that post { by Big and Bashful » 03 Jan 2013 04:37 am }.

Now that the winter windchilling leg frostbiting weather is in the past I was
wearing leggings tights (no jeggings w/pockets) complimenting my short kilts
and skirts. Most everything I have breaks at mid thigh.
Have had a very mild winter for the most part and only recently have been
back to getting acclimated to bare leg wear weather as usual.
So it is out with the bare legs helped along with calf over the calf knee sox.
Obviously it was not nice to flirt with the lion in winter in the eye of the tiger
winter blizzards and all that but it doesn't take much when the temperature
goes over 40F 5C to get in the bare leg mode.
Yes seeing more and more of the leggings in vogue.
The gals have a corner on the market mixing and matching with abandon
of fashion - guys more common with athletic activities but not common
with the runners not so much inhibiting the air flow around the legs but
the fabric abrasion within - desired minimal encroachment in the crotch !
Something about those original Olympics run in the nude.
Another place the leggings tights are not found is the indoor athletic clubs -
no useful purpose - but guys (other than myself) wearing tights for the
fashion of it - it is not there yet - get some thumbs up and then there
are those - you crazy or something.
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
I got a pair of meggings when I started my journey into alternative clothing styles a couple of years back. The wife hated them - this was back in the days before she had come to accept my new pastime. I sent them back based upon the wife's reaction (not even sure that I ever got a refund), but I'm not sure if I'd have kept them anyhow. Very shiny and wrinkly - not what I expected at all. My legs looked stick-thin and I felt like one of the band members in the Rolling Stones
I hate the term "meggings." The are leggings and can be worn by guys or girls. I wear leggings around the house and when working out. I do wish they would be more of a fashion staple for men. They have been making their way onto the fashion runways, but not mainstream yet. Here is to hoping.
Of late, girls' jeans have become so skinny that they are really denim leggings, not much more. Now I see the young teenage bloods wearing (to me) impossibly skinny jeans, like the girls! It must take them ages to get 'em on & off! Maybe the designer holes in the knees &c help a bit.
At least with tights and presumably leggings also there is some elasticity, facilitating peeling them on & off.
As to that word 'Meggings', I doubt if any shop assistant in these parts would know what you were talking about.

Those tight jeans have a large percentage of spandex in them, 20-30% so they have lots of stretch.
For the most part, I prefer the look of the ones designed for ladies, but they tend to need extra elastic in the back to stop them sliding down, and if you don't have good legs/butt, can be a bit unflattering. I think I look OK, but I wish I'd had the nerve when I was younger. I still don't have the nerve to wear the leather look ones.
Like #brennk, I dislike the word "meggings."
I own a drawer full of leggings (and a few tights).
They are certainly cheap enough, if you go to the
right stores.
Some of mine are in basic black, some are in colorful
patterns. One of my favorites is a camouflage legging
from Rothco which I found at a military surplus store.
I paid about $10.00. https://www.drjays.com/shop/P2022229/ro ... gings.html
They are unnecessarily called "women's." The XL size
fits me perfectly, and I like the pattern. Rothco sells
a version of this with ankle zippers which I don't need.

I am a big fan of leggings and wear them all the time when I'm not wearing a skirt/dress.
I do have a couple of pairs of meggings, in that they have a pouch in the design to be accommodating for the male anatomy. Unfortunately, that change in design just causes them to emphasize the male package that would otherwise not be visible in regular leggings so I tend to not wear them in public.

A guy at the gym also works out wearing a similar outfit.
I’m not an expert, but I think that guys actually did start wearing the tight jeans labelled for women. I remember some years ago the comedian Russell Brand stating that he wore women’s jeans to get the tighter fit. Ironically I think this a case of the fashion industry following the crossover from women to men. In the same vein, I know that soldiers on patrol in cold climates actually wore women’s tights then they started labelling a thicker design for men.
