You look very smart. The skirt is a nice contrast with the black tights and boots

Its no big deal wearing what you want wherever you go - or so I find anyway!
I think the advice is right - a feminine styled top is more tailored and will look less bulky - which is a nicer look I think.
I wear womens tops (although I refer to them as my tops) because I have breasts and mens are just too bulky looking on me - or too tight and baggy at the same time!
I think whoever wears a fitted or straight or narrow a line style skirt should consider a fitted top, such as a clingy knitwear or get a shirt/blouse that is tailored to their shape so it fits them neatly without baggy areas.

I don't get any trouble for wearing a skirt to any appt etc... I get more grief for my high heels. far more when I think about it.

oh and the necklace is great - accessories are fun -and they coordinate an outfit. That works really well in your example!

cheers

I don't know why people feel like they have to critique like that. Oh you should......
(The need to go with feminine tops, or additional, feminine anything)

I had a lady friend I know tell me I needed to start shaving my legs if I was going to start wearing kilt.

Here is the back story.
A while back I wore one of my utility kilts, I wore it to our church's summer vacation Bible school. The theme was heroes of the Bible. So Every one of the staff was dressed in biblical styled clothing. I incorporated my black utility kilt into my costume. By wearing a tucked in black t shirt, tieing a fabric sash about my waist, and by wearing one of the short over cloaks. It partially disguised the fact it was a kilt and t shirt.

After VBS, while we were taking down decorations, and resetting things for Sunday I stripped off every thing except for the t shirt and kilt. Revealing it as such. Now no longer a costume.
At this point in the evening this is where she made the leg shaving comment.
Why would she feel the need to say that?
Personally I don't think she liked my kilt, but didn't want to say that out right, I dont like what your wearing.
So I'll say something else to try to embarrass you.
You need to shave your legs like women do.

Only one other comment from the group of around 15 people was, one guy said that had better be a kilt and not a skirt.

The fashion rules for men's skirts and kilts should be different than womens fashion.

I may wear kilts and skirts. You won't find this guy shaving his legs, wearing heels, tights, makeup, pantihose, or blouses.
Not doing it for me or for anyone else.!

My mother had cure for people like that (at least young people read young'uns) She would take them into the bathroom and wash out their mouths with bath soap. It usually worked and for using bad words she used laundry bar soap. That kept the bad words out of my mouth if there was any chance it would get back to her....

Mine this morning escorting wife to hospital for CT scan was mid-calf but no leggings, and bit chilly despite heavy black leather jacket -- I think your version is more practical!

It took me awhile to get up the nerve to go to my doctor in a skirt, but when I finally did, it was just what so many others have said, a complete and utter non-issue. Medical professionals have seen and heard nearly everything!

Even before I started wearing skirts and dresses to my doctor's appointments I had a mysterious pain in my left chest so my doctor prescribed a mammogram! When I was a crossdresser I typically used the Women's Rooms when I was out and about and had gone all kinds of places in a dress beforehand, but somehow going to the hospital to get a mammogram just spooked the living daylights out of me. I considered not going at all, but doctor's orders are doctor's orders.

Finally, I decided I'd feel more comfortable about getting such a generally womanly procedure would be possibly doable if I were in a skirted suit and nice blouse. I was still as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs. But everyone treated me very kindly and professionally. I think one of the numerous people who attended to me complimented me on my outfit and I found out there was nothing there so whatever was causing the pains, it wasn't some sort of tumor!

I later asked a woman friend if she thought I was crazy for not being able to face getting me a mammogram in anything but a skirt and she assured me 'certainly not!' So as OldSalt said, sometimes a skirt can be helpful in medical situations.

PDX is right about a skirt being helpful in a medical situation.

A while back I had Bypass surgery part of the procedure was to remove a piece of vein from my leg and transplant it to replace blocked arteries.

On one of my post op checkups the doctor had to check my leg to see if things were healing right.

It was a lady surgeon I stood on the platform so she could get a better look at the leg . at that point she smiled and said

This exam is going to be easy just lift up your skirt

Skirts made my fitting for a knee brace a lot easier as well. The VA prescribed a knee brace for my left knee and so I had to go to the Company the they placed the order with. I went in a skirt and it made the fitting so much easier as all I had to do was raise my skirt. I have to go back on this Wednesday for the final fitting and of course I will be skirted. :D
