Hello from a French guy

Post by Hope »

Hi, and thanks for those who created this forum and maintain it!
I'm keen on wearing feminine clothes for about ten years now. I'm a 52 married man who travel a lot for my business. My wife, though she knows it, doesn't appreciate my taste for feminine clothing so I wear them when I am abroad.
I have several skirts and few dresses. I'm also keen on boots and heels.

Hello and welcome! I really like that yellow skirt. Your outfits are very elegant.

Great, another mini skirt wearer.
(not that I get any criticism from those here who prefer a different style)

Welcome to this forum. It proves at least the French are still stylish. I was born in the Netherlands and traveled a lot in France. My marriage 10 years ago to an American lady prevented me from moving to France, the area of La Rochelle.

It looks like the same happened to you as with La tour de la Chaîne when the powder room blew up. ;)

It's an old habit in my family to loose their head since the French revolution! 😉 Never mind, I'm still here, with or without my head, but with my skirt ! 😂

I thought that in France the only place to LOOSE anything was in that rather large town in the SW. :eye:

Hello Hope!

Wives, families in general, are often the least supportive of our choices. Some of us here are luckier that way than others, but the story of family members who oppose our preferences is almost universally familiar. Families can forgive all kinds of far worse things then suddenly loose their sh*t when it comes to you looking different. There is no universal way to deal with this, as far as I can tell.

Lucky for you that you get to travel. Travelling in more "feminine" attire, especially skirts, is much preferable to the standard "masculine" attire, in my experience.

You obviously like "sharp" outfits. If your workplaces are compatible with it, they can be good places for looking (and feeling) sharp too.

Thank you Daryl for your message.
I'm afraid neither my family nor my workplace are skirt compatible! As a sales person, you never know how much you can be uncomformist without being taken for a non-serious one! 🤔 I'm not working for myself, so I don't take the risk of professional meetings in skirt, though it's happened sometimes that I met some customer apart from workspace while being skirted. No comments from them, but I feel they are embarrassed and don't know how to behave! Not sure it helps my business! I try to be sharp in business, but as far as outfit is concerned, I stay casual.

You certainly have the legs for those skirts, Hope! Bravo!

Myself, I've found France to be very accepting of a man in a skirt -- possibly because of the efforts of the Association Hommes en Jupe (no doubt you know about that).
