Dammit.

Post by crfriend »

I just composed a vitriolic rant to my team that will not likely see public exposure here where I paraphrased Harlan Ellison. I needed to check the attribution to make sure I had it right (I did) and was rewarded by the Wikipedia page which mentioned that the esteemed author had passed into the great beyond (this just-passed June). Damn. Another one bites the dust. Soon there will be none left. And then what? Twits? A world dominated by Farcebook? A place where 147 characters is the maximum number of characters you're allowed to express yourself in? I'm glad I'm getting old and "expendable". Bring it on.

How many 1s and 0s can you express in 147 characters ?
We have infinite distances in space and decreasing finite space right in front of us.

At first I thought that you had composed something at great effort and then you hit the
GREAT VOID key on the QWERTY keyboard sending the message to oblivion returning with the
response of a BLANK page. No amount of UNDO restore rewind refresh escape will bring it back
and going back to the drawing (thought) board ain't gonna happen.

I frequently have to remind myself to SAVE if the program does not auto-save otherwise my
work is all for naught - cause the recollection of the work the second time around is not all the same.

When you used vitriolic rant I expected something out of the Harry Potter books - - -

So I and perhaps others are left hanging in the lurch - - -

Or then maybe it would be best not to go there ! LOL !

Maybe Uncle Al needs to dwell on any humor out of this.
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Multiply readable characters by 5 for bits in Baudot, 8 for ASCII, and 16 for UNICODE. It's variable if expressed in Morse Code.

It was a short but snarky bit about denim, and I was advised to "read it again in the morning". I just did, and the sentiment stands. However, I still might not publish it.

And I'm still sad that Harlan Ellison has passed.

Yes, it's sad about Harlan Ellison :(

The "Rant" is rather 'COLORFUL' in describing the attributes of denim.
NO - It's not for publication :!:
(Now the theater of the mind takes over ;) )

To R. M. A. - Harry might say: He who must not be named, may crawl under your skirt :!:
(similar to -
'May the fleas of 1000 camels crawl into your shorts, and your arms are to short to scratch')

As well it should be.

Hey, it's not that bad. I could have gone a lot deeper into the matter.

I didn't directly use the F-word even once, and only used some other mildly-strong language a couple of times. I just re-read it again, and I still say it stands on its own.
(Now the theater of the mind takes over ;) )
As it always should.

Aw, blast it Al, now you're trying to channel one of my favourite authors, H. P. Lovecraft. If you want to do that, I'll recast my rant in that genre. (And it might work even better than the way I wrote the thing originally. I need to contemplate that. It might scare folks off the vile and loathsome stuff.)
