Loafers

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Loafers

Post by beachlion »

My main reason for wearing a skirt is comfort. I'm not interested in fashion so I stay in the masculine corner with the skirts. With the denim and twill fabrics and the A-line models I think that is reasonably in line with my reason. But now and then I like to push the envelope just slightly. The wife tolerates my skirts but when I wear something shorter than usual, she makes a remark. So I don't want to go too much in the girly direction. With my lack of fashion feeling, it is difficult to see what is still masculine or what is too feminine.

I did some experiments with dresses and heels but I did not feel comfortable at all to wear this in public.I also don't want to upset my wife. But recently I ordered some women loafers with a 2" heel. They are comfortable but to my feeling they are just a little over the edge. It might take some time to walk around in them.

To me those heels are pretty plain. I hardly ever go out in less than 3" heels anymore.

But I started out with 2" heels as well so go ahead and get used to them.

And remember, you were once afraid to go out in a skirt, too.

Are the 2" heels more comfortable than flats?

If you mean ballet flats, I think those are too feminine to my taste.

Today I went to the beach and had to go to two gas stations. In the car I had put the loafers on and walked around in the gas stations. And they are comfortable.
If I can find ballet flats in the same style as loafers, I will give it a try.

Isn't that what makes them fun?

I have to admit: yes.

But it feels like I'm leaving my main reason for wearing skirts: comfort. I also told my wife and her friends the same story: comfort. It feels like I'm at a fork in the road. One direction is a strict male image and the other is with more feminine influences. I have no idea in which direction my compass will point in the near future.

Heels needn't be uncomfortable, but fit is much more critical than with flats. Try some on and if they hurt, try another.

Of if you mean emotional comfort, well, you've been through that once already with skirts...
