What I don't like - a small rant
What I don't like - a small rant
Allergies, sinus problems & continual sneezing
The runny nose, watery eyes & the inability to stay awake.
I try to sleep and get woke up because I can't breathe through
my nose. My CPAP machine is unable to function.
It can't keep the air going into my lungs due bronchial & sinus blockage.
I sleep for 45-60 minutes then wake up. I sit in the recliner
and get some sleep(about 1-2 hours) then I wake up again, sneezing.
Unfortunately, I go through this every year from late December
to mid March.

Dealing with that right now. Don't use a CPAP machine, but, everything else is going on with me as well. Nose is running the Boston Marathon.

I have found the Breath Rite nose strips that hold the nose open do help some along with the CPap machine. Along with all of the meds that you take to try to keep breathing. It can get pretty bad I usually try to find a place to sit up and sleep.
I hope you are able to get through this in one piece and are able to get some decent sleep. Being deprived of sleep will kill you after a while.

{Begin rant}
I hate having to test my blood glucose every few hours during the day and injecting insulin before meals and on a night time before sleep. I don't like that I have to watch what I eat and how much. I hate what the diabetes is doing to my body slowly - blood vessels, cardiac problems, circulation problems leading to loss of limbs, eyesight degeneration, kidney problems, nerve problems, strokes and so on. Fortunately I keep things as tightly controlled as I can and suffer few of the above. But just knowing that if I relax control for too long I could suffer any of them is a constant worry. Currently my average glucose level is 6.2, I take 70 units of Lantus insulin each evening and between 20 and 40 units of Novorapid insulin per day depending on how much and what I eat [0]. I weigh 184.0lb and aim to shift 14 of those over the next few weeks [1]. Insulin is a hormone that encourages the lay down of fat so losing it is more difficult for a diabetic, but not impossible.
(End rant}
[0] Not checked as to whether these levels are low, medium or high in terms of insulin intake but they are now under half what I was doing a couple of years ago.
[1] Precipitated by MOH reaching her highest weight ( my mouth is sealed ) and deciding that SHE has to lose it so as a dutiful partner I "have" to join her, voluntarily or not.

Dennis - My wife is now using a V-Go 30 that attaches to her abdomen.
With the continuous input of Humalog, she is now getting numbers down
into the normal range. She changes the unit each day.
Insulin delivery for type 2 diabetes that's worn like a patch
She gives herself 4 'clicks' just before a meal or 2 'clicks' before a snack.
She has given up all soda(Pepsi, Coke, etc.) She tried a drink last week
and stated that the Pepsi didn't taste right.(WIN )
Her A1C has come way down. Still has a ways to go but she's headed
in the right direction.
You may want to check with your diabetes Doctor about the V-Go 'patch'.
She is now only checking her Blood Sugar twice a day. Almost normal numbers.
I know it's a hard road to hoe but I wish you the best

When you have been doing carb counting and insulin for about 43 years it does get tiresome, however no complications yet so in the end the hard work is worth it.

Seems to be less runny this early Sunday morning, so, maybe things are improving. Voice seems to be returning, too.

john62, compared to you I'm a mere teenager at 17 years. My diabetes came about as a result of a very stressful job. I ended up with 6 months paid garden leave due to stress and depression. The stress gave me diabetes and the diabetes ruined my hearing. So far I have no complications but am always conscious that if I let down my care and commitment then there are big evils out there lurking to grab me.
Uncle Al, to a certain extent, unless I pay privately and bear in mind I live in Yorkshire for which its populace is not exactly known for splashing out hence the phrase short arms and deep pockets, I am limited to what is available on the NHS. To get such devices you have to meet certain criteria and the last time of asking I didn't but that was a few years ago. I cope and although it's a pain you get used to the finger pricks, know which fingers hurt more than the others and always carry my little pouch, actually a pencil case, and the calculating insulin doses. I'll enquire on my next visit to the diabetic clinic. What I would really love is to lose some weight and get rid of the daibetes altogether. Unfortunately that is easier said than done!

Since my wife has been on the V-Go 'patch', she is starting to lose some weight.
At her last Dr's visit, she has lost 6 lbs. This is a result of the continual input of
Humalog(insulin). It is a slow, but steady, input which is getting her other "systems"
back into working order. Her next appointment for an A1C check is in April.
I hope her 'numbers' keep improving

My HbAc1 is generally between 6.0 and 6.5. In fact the specialist has advised me to be less strict on my use of insulin. I take that with a pinch of salt.

Re: What I don't like - a small rant
The HBA1C has always been below 7% except once, it was 7.2%. As for me had a gastro attack, 2 weeks later the diabetes, the immune system attacked the bug and the islets cell at the same time which is a common way of developing diabetes in children.

No major health issues to speak of, though I have always been a headache sufferer. I've gotten them since I was a child. Tension, sinus, etc. About two or three per week, more between the months of October and April. 99% of the time, a dose of Excedrin and ibuprofen remedies the problem. But then there's the 1% when I think I'm going to die.
I hate vehicle inspection month!
I hate income taxes! It's like being fined for working!
I hate seafood. (Sorry Bostoners)
I hate stubbing my toe in the dark... AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HOW I HATE THAT!
I hate hitting my head, especially when people are looking!
I hate splinters!
I hate sticky floors!
I hate when the truck breaks down!
I hate when a DVD craps out and skips at the climax of the story!

I do not like vegans who get all up in your face when they see you eating meat or dairy. If you don't want to eat meat then don't eat it, BUT don't try to make me stop eating what humans were designed to eat. Most doctors will tell you that the vegan diet is not all that healthy. Many will tell you that you should not eat red meat more that twice a week. I say BS I eat meat all most every day. So vegans stay away from me.
