Hi, from South Wales (UK)

Post by Rolando »

I've been browsing Skirtcafe for a few months and recently took the plunge and joined!.

I've been wearing skirts (at home) on and off (more off than on) for about 15 years. About 2-3 years ago I started wearing skirts most days, in the evenings – great to get out of trousers and into something comfortable. Having found Skirtcafe, and reading the posts/comments on here, I started wearing a skirt all day, most days, both indoors and out in the garden.

June this year, I read about and saw the Exeter school boys not being allowed to wear shorts to school, they protested by wearing skirts instead…..good on them, I thought.

At the beginning of August after having read the thread 'Do folks notice or not?' I ventured out - feeling like a 'skirted crusader' - to do my weekly grocery shop at the local superstore. A bit nerve racking, especially getting out of the car, losing the protection of that little steel box. Just had to take a deep breath, stand tall, suck my belly in and get on with it. Shopping done, and back in the car – relief! Nobody had seemed to notice, no comments – I can do this again! and I have, at every opportunity!!

Looking forward to adding my two-penneth (cents) worth to some of the discussions.

Welcome Rolando.

Driving from the Fishguard ferry to visit my offsprings & grandchildren in Englandshire, S. Wales is frequently just a stream of tarmac, dotted white lines and catseyes. Sometimes we stop off and look at something, e.g. St David's Cathedral....

Hello Rolando and welcome to skirtcafe.

From your intro you are making great progress. Like most things confidence is gained by making small but regular steps and soon you question why you had the initial doubts and or concerns. Clothes are just clothes, for warmth, modesty and a reflection of ones personality. Most are of this mind some unfortunately get wound up by a man expressing his preference but then that applies to many aspects of society.

Just had 5 days in Snowdonia, top of North Wales. 5 days walking in trousers but out and about in evenings, hotel, meals etc I was skirted.

Although I do have several weeks of absence from this forum simply due to time I look forward to your contribution here.

Jeremy

Hi Rolando and welcome. That first outing is the worst but once done it only gets easier. :welcome:

Hello from "New" South Wales (Aus). Great that you took that first step in public - such a liberation. I am sure it would have taken me as long to venture out if I had not the inspiration and support of Skirt Cafe.
It is a relief to find that most people don't seem to notice.

Exactly!

Welcome to the board, Pete, and welcome to the world of those who skirt in public!

Welcome, Pete, and congratulations on your first skirted outing! The first of many, we hope. The first is the hardest; from then on it gets easier and easier until you barely even think about it.
Keep on skirting,

Hi Pete, from another Pete, and welcome. I hope you'll enjoy the banter here. My skirt wearing was moth balled for a while but is now back on course again. People don't tend to notice, though you do get an occasional surprised downwards glance as a reaction from someone passing. It can be quite amusing how people do a double take.

Welcome to the site Pete. I just want to add a slight touch of moderation here to say that you mustn't feel, as some do here, that you must wear a skirt all the time. To me that is as boring as wearing trousers all the time. My intention has always been to incorporate skirts into my wardrobe alongside the jeans and trousers not replace them. Your manner of dress should have variety in styles and colours as well. I wear a variety of colours from the spectrum, black, blue, brown, pink, purple, red, white, yellow mainly but am open to try others. Just trying to add an alternate view that's all.

Congratulations on the first few steps and may your skirted outings continue. As others have said it does get easier and you shouldn't care what others think and most won't notice anyway.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

On the doubletakes, yes, I just approach them as a student of the world and give myself credit for expanding their life view.

Hi Pete, and a welcome from Scotland. I hope your skirt wearing is continuing to go well - it gets easier the more you do it.

I just discovered your post about Skirtfanatic.com. It can only be good for us to have a skirt seller know and mention that some of the customers are men buying skirts for themselves.
