Some years ago when I was wearing my kilt for the office Xmas party. one of the secretaries asked "Are you wearing anything under that?" I simply gave her a wthering look and pointed out that if I had asked the same quesion, I would be up for disciplinary proceedings. That's about the best way of dealing with it, although I usually try to take the empathy approach and ask, "How would you feel if I asked you the same question?" in a slightly sad tone, not an accusatory one. That is just not acceptable territory for strangers to be on -- and alcohol is no excuse for it, either.
